clear corners and stealth bulb drama

So,
I put in my clear corners and stealth bulbs no problem, but i didn't realize that they'd basically look the almost the same (amber) at night...but marginally better.

Looks alot better in the day.

SO, I think i wanna put in white bulbs instead of stealth amber..is this legal in Canada? If so, what brand/where can I get them?

And where do you get the white xenon bulbs for the parking lights in the main light housing?

Also, I'm a bit confused, did the side markers ever flash when the turn signal was on?

Not too sure about the legal in Canada thing. I know there are quite a few threads on bulbs. If your just putting regular white lights in the clear corners you can pick those up at any local auto parts store. As far as the others check out this thread. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-exterior-appearance-body-kits-27/2004-mazda-rx-8-bulb-code-list-25466/
There are some tips on what and where to get.

clear corners look really nice in they day, at night, almost the same, i'm wondering, did you take out the internal reflector from the clear corners, taking them out makes the clear corners look really good. just my 2 cents.

Hey white, if you're planning on not using your clear corners, you think i can get them from you? haha, i still need to get my clear corners, gonna probably buy them from ebay and they don't come with stealth bulbs. So yeah, haha, just a thought.

tiggerlee knows whats up, got to take those internal reflectors out to get the full effect

i took out the reflectors....don't get me wrong, they look better even at night than the regulars...but i thought it would be more white....

sorry, i'm hanging on to them....i can sell you some white tireflys...they look pretty cool, but i dont' wanna keep em, cause they'd get stolen probbly, and anyways...i think i'm too old for em.

i think i will pick up the white bulbs..for the clear corners.

if i do that i could maybe sell you the stealth bulbs that i have....they're like one day old but first i gotto figure out if i'll get the white bulbs..

also anyone know about...white or blue/white bulbs for the parking lights? The little round ones next to the high beam/daytime running lights.

thanks i'll have a look at that other thread.

Well I'm still running all stock lights in the front with the exception of the clear corners so I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I do plan on changing them soon though. From what I've read so far white/white seems to be the best match for the xenon headlights. Correct me anyone if I'm wrong.

i think that's right.

How do we go about figuring out the best bulbs to get the high beams daytime running lights white (presuming that we're both thinkin about doing that) and what to do about the small circular parking lights, i checked out that thread was confused.

I guess i'll take a closer look tomorrow.

Are you in toronto btw.? or canada?

Yep I plan on going all white to match the xenons. I'm still reading alot of the info here plus looking for some other stuff too. I'm sure someone will chime in here with some info. I'll let you know what I find. http://www.autolumination.com seems to be where several folks are buying from.

Oh and btw, I'm in sunny Orlando, Florida

I've experimented with several different bulbs for the parking lights and have found that to match the white of the HIDs you have to go with such a thickly blue coated bulb that it puts out almost no light whatsoever. LEDs are a little more blue than the HIDs, but I'd rather have that than yellow. I had some bad luck with autolumination bulbs colors not matching, so I'll recomend another place: www.v-leds.com.

Anyway, here's what I have for the parking lights and they're awesome, very bright:

For my clear corners I wanted to stay with amber to stay somewhat legal, so I went with the following refractor LED:

These have side facing LEDs so that the light shines out of the clear corner in all directions, works very well. These are also available in white (and I have a pair in case I decide to go all white):

Hope that helps.

Nope, unfortunately that is not legal in California. (I'll get you the exact Vehicle Code in a few minutes if you like)

I said the hell with it and went with hyper whites in the clear corners anyways. 8 months so far and no one has hastled me...
(I can take a picture at night if you like)

Pends......

Depends where you are in Canuckville....

The requirement for most areas is that there be a yellow REFLECTOR at that position, so your clear corners are already illegal, whatever colour bulb you put in.

...I wouldn't worry about it, I've got my clears on anyway!

Eyeball: I just bought some PIAA for those little driving lights and I've been trying to figure out how the heck I'm going to get to them...

Sounds like I've got my hands full?

Definitely the easiest bulb to change on the car... by far. I am able to change the driver's side very easily by taking the fuse box cover off and just reaching in with my hand. The passenger side is a little trickier, I don't have to remove the ECU cover as some people have claimed to have to do. I can loosen and tighten it with my finger, I need a needle nose to extract it and put it back in place though. It's a tight squeeze, I have medium sized hands and if they were even a tiny bit bigger I'd probably have to remove the ECU cover.

I like the PIAA Hyper Whites for the 194's (side marker and little round next to head lights, oh and all the interior bulbs (doors, map lights, trunk, license plate bulbs))

The directions for getting to bulbs is in the Manual.

I may pull the reflector soon, just need to see another side marker that is not LED to make the decision.

Is it possible to reinstall the reflector?

Random noob question: What the heck is the difference between a 168 and a 194 bulb?

Buddy of mine swears he put 168's in the little round driving lights and they work nicely.... confused.

Yeah, pretty much the same. I believe the bulb part of the 168 may be a little smaller, but the connetor is the same. Will work fine.

your question is a little off topic in this thread. you might have better luck making a new thread or doing a search in the DIY forum.
