Color Matching

I know there has been allot of discussion as to if your RX8 came with HID's or not. I've read different ways to tell but am still confused. I think I have HID's however if I'm not mistaken. Here is a picture of my lights on.

I want to color match my fog light bulbs and my side marker bulbs to my headlights or if I already have HID's maybe go something like this for headlights/fogs/side markers.

Also, will I need a new white/blue turn signal bulb? Any help is appreciated. Would like to order tonight if possible

i have 4 LED hyper white 194 bulbs that I use in both the running lights and side markers that seem to match pretty well. It looks like you do have HID's and in I've found that they're about 5000K ish in the color scheme so hyper white leds seem to match pretty close. I believe that Hoen Xenonmatch bulbs seem to match our HID's almost perfectly but I can't say for sure since I havent tried them for myself, so those should work fine for the fogs

So I'm browsing through the Hoen website and I'm still a bit clueless? Are the H11 Xenonmatch bulbs what I need so I can match my fog lights to my headlights?

Can I also purchase side marker lights at Hoen to match that as well?
What about that round light next to the headlight that is also on?
Do I need new turn signal bulbs or reverse bulbs for the back?

Thanks!

would you like to match everything that can legally be white? The back up lights and turn signals are 7440 bulbs while the side lights in the clear corners (side markers) and the inner running lights are both 194 lights. I would order through V-leds since they have a great selection and I have not had any issues with any of their LED bulbs (going on 3 years). Turn signals you have to be careful with because LED's have less electric draw than regular filament bulbs so they will blink super rapidly without a resistor or a change of signaling device (whatever its called).

Yes the xenonmatch h11's are what you need, its a really quick install, only 10-15 min a bulb. nothing special for the install needed

So basically, order the H11 Xenonmatch bulbs from Hoen. Then order the 194 LED's from V-leds?

Why wouldn't I just order the H11 Xenonmatch Titanium along with the H11 fogs from Hoen? Can you post a link of the exact 194's needed from V-leds? Their website is confusing IMO and they offer like a million light bulbs.

you only need one set of h11 bulbs, whether or not you want to get the xenonmatch titanium or xenonmatch "regular" is up to you. But H11 is only for the fog lights, if you want to also match the high beams then that would be a H9 bulb but that's up to you.

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

these are the bulbs i ordered but pretty much anything in 194 in white will work and look the same, the differences are pretty much light output. The more expensive stuff put out more light but are more expensive.

Excluding the H11 fogs that are $29.99 from Hoen, the other H11's I was referring to were these http://hoen-usa.com/ti.htm.

Wouldn't those be the one's I need for the light next to the HID? Why are you saying I will only need one pair of H11? The light shown in my picture isn't my highbeam?

the light on that is the HID is just a low beam, your high beams are the bulbs next to the HID's and those are H9's. They are a pain in the *** to find because its a very rare bulb and I ended up buying a set of PIAA Extreme White H9 bulbs for $120 a pair because very few manufacturers even make an H9 replacement.

The H11's are the low fog lights below everything else and those are H11's so in order to match those its up to you on the titanium or the regular xenonmatch bulbs you want but both should work just fine.

The bulbs from outside in are as follows, side marker: 194, turn signal: 7440, low beam (HID): D2S, high beam(off in picture): H9, inner running light: 194, fog lights (below everything else in the main cluster) : H11

So Can't I change that low beam light to match the current white look of the HID? Would they be H7? Hoen website says perfect for low beam and high beam use (I would use them for low since you said H9 is high)...

I'm not too worried about my high beams right now because I barely use them. I just want to match what is pictured in the original post.

the blueish light that is on is your low beam which is an HID bulb, i assume you want to match everything to that. The titanium bulb by hoen is usually used for bulbs that aren't fog lights so they will function like low beams and look like HID's but you already have low beam HID's. The fog lights are H11 bulbs so it really doesn't matter what kind you pick as long as they are H11's. I have seen the xenonmatch bulbs in person and they are really close so I would still go with those but either those or the titaniums will work fine.

The HID low beams for the rx8 are D2S while the non HID low beams are H7, you have D2S low beams so there is no need to mess with those.

Ok now we're getting somewhere

Step 1: Order H11 Xenonmatch Fogs from Hoen (Fogs)
Step 2: Order pair 194 Super White 4-LED Bulb from V-Leds (Inner Running)
Step 3: Order pair 194 Super White ????? Bulb from V-Leds (Side Markers)

Which Led's would work best for the side markers? The same ones as the inner running so just order 2 pairs? Or should I go with a different 194? I appreciate all the help ac3

See my post above for more info......not to confuse you, but it has a link to a post where I have links to every LED I'm using in the car.

id order two pair of the same but its completely up to you, just for simplicity's sake lets say just order the second pair of 194s. I feel that mine are plenty bright enough and match the HID great.

No problem, I'm just glad I can help someone out with something that I actually know pretty well

Any other LEDS I should order while I'm at it? I'm not interested in changing every single bulb I just don't want anything major to look out of place while driving/braking/reversing/ etc.

Mazurfer you have like every single LED as if i wasn't confused enough, now I don't know if I need to add on to my order

Always good to have extra! He'll end up putting the extras in other places....and then he'll need more!

lol, i changed out my reverse and brake lights to led and I'm really satisfied, I would not worry about those now but if youd like to, just order the 7443 bulbs from v-leds and you'll be happy but its all up to you, i think your order right now will look really good and you don't need any more.

I assume the brake lights LEDS are Red and the reverse light LEDS are White? Do you have a picture of these on or in action? I would rather order everything I need now if possible.

If that means adding the 7443 bulbs to my order then so be it. Since you said reverse AND brake lights that means I'll be adding another 2 pairs of bulbs so in total I will have the following...

H11 Xenonmatch - http://hoen-usa.com/fog.htm

194 Inner Running Light - http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

194 Side Marker Light - http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

7443 Brake Light -
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

7443 Reverse Light -
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

Does that all seem right? Thanks once again guys! Don't even know what I would have ended up ordering had I not posted

The answer to your first question is "yes". As far as pics, I'd have to go see if I can find one on my other system. Your list looks good.......there maybe better choices for brake and reverse lights, but I wanted something easy and actually the numerous LED's in them create a cool effect when they are put in.

Oh......................and leave the third brake light(the top center one) alone for now. There can be issues when changing that to an LED.

I have problem too.

White LED is only 5000K-6000K.
I have aftermarket 8000K HID and it totally makes LEDs look like incandescent bulb, in compare.

Went ahead and placed my order on both websites. I'll be sure to post before & after side/side pictures for comparison once installed. Thanks for your help ac3 and Mazurfer.

Wish I could have somehow avoided the $9 shipping on each site
