Custom Painted Engine Covers
#52
Red, Yellow & Blue flames on the covers we have on lock down. The Grey and Silver flames will be much more of a challenge. Soon we may paint some test metals to see if we cannot make silver flames look good.
It was slightly overcast today and some people asked if we could make the images a bit larger to see more details. I am hoping that this small photo set shows more detail and maybe even a slight color shift from a different type of natural lighting. This set was shot at about the same time of day as the last set, but the sun is not as harsh.
Anyway...
We have set a price for all five covers, but there are a few dilemmas... Your 8 will most likely be out of commission while the covers are sent and painted, as the entire Airbox will need to be shipped and I am not sure it is even drivable if the Mass-Airflow Sensor is not plugged in. (I was too chicken to try and start her up with the airbox out.) We are going to have to create small shipping pallets to mount the box on so the paint cannot be damaged in shipping. It is clear to us that we need to think this strategy out a bit more, but it is doable... just not sure of what the shipping will be.
On a side note: I almost regret painting the outside as now it takes me 5-10 minutes longer to go anywhere, cause I have to answer the questions, show the covers and stand-by for the photo sessions. The few rubber-neckers make me nervous too, but we are all used to that I guess.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this, but since the flames seem to really pop out on the black engine covers, flames inside and outside would look absolutely awsome on a Brilliant Black!

I got to see vIce^gRip's car today in person and it looks amazing! The pics aren't able to show how the mica still catches the light between the flames when it's in sun.
I'd love to see a blue done like his car. Blue/white and maybe silver flames would look slick.

I saw it today also... hampton roads RX-8 club meet :D
Looks great!
As soon as I saw the blue engine cover I was like "Wow... I actually think that would look awesome on my car." And that's coming from a person that's never really into show stuff.
I'd be willing to donate my winning blue car for test purposes! haha

Alas, it has been very hard to get up with Omicron. Last we spoke… the price the club was asking was much higher than I had expected it would be for what we are offering. We already knew that this was a very limited market.
The price for custom work such as this, that has a very limited demand, would turn away many that do not know about how much custom painting cost. We assumed that this service was only for those that really want a show car. Maybe a few others that, like myself, just love the car so much that adding a personal touch of uniqueness is worth the time, effort & cash.
When we 1st offered these painted covers we had a few PMs, and one contact already wanted us to paint her Fuel Intake Rail Covers for her Corvette. Omicron said that that was cool as I had already committed to her. We did the work and she loved the final product. I hope she reads this and will speak up for herself and our credibility.
