Custom Painted Rear Bumper

Has anyone painted the lower half of the stock bumper? If so, any pics? Thinking of doing just that.
Thanks,

I have thought of doing the same thing... but have heard nothing but bad things about having it done.

- can't be done
- won't last
- paint will peel
- etc...

If you find a viable solution - let me know?? I've been dying to do the same, on a WBlue as well.

I'd be interested to know if there was any peeling as well. I was considering doing this with the side mirrors and rear.

if you prep it properly and use plastic primer then it will not peel (unless some knid of unusual force is applied....)

here is a pic of front lower piece and side mirror colour coded.

You are having me a believer... and doh - just realized this is your car...

Did you do it yourself? If you took it somewhere, do you know what they did to prep it?

I was thinking of doing exactly that to the back bumper - putting real mesh in place of the fake plastic section. Will probably still do it someday - got a guy close who can help with the cutting of the bumper and splicing in of the new mesh... If I ever do get to it, I'll definitely post a write up...

In the mean time, has anyone else done it? If so, pics / link?

dont bother cutting the "fake" mesh out... there is a clip behind each section which you will need to "secure" the whole rear bumper bar on the car.

does anyone have a pic of the back of the rear bumper bar?

Damn... So that foils my plans - curses

I suppose I'll have to just bite the bullet and get a proper aftermarket rear - like the MS or whatever...

but then again.... what do ppl do when they have the MS lower section on the rear bar? (you need to cut the rear lower sction and 'add" the MS onto the rear bar....)

N Rider89, know a good place to even find white rims??? Since I've been browsing, the selection seems pretty skimpy... a few shops have some, but none that I'm to particularly fond of...

1. find your car key
2. find a friendly/trusty local bodyshop
3. get to your car asap
4. drive to the above mentioned bodyshop
5. discussed in details and leave the bodyshop
6. call and confirm when it is ready for pick up
7. go in, pay and drive away
