Dealership Sticker Removal

I'm trying to peel off the dealership sticker but for the life of me, I just can't do it! After about an hour of chiping away this is all I've managed to do....

I should just tell the dealership that I'll send them a bill for advertising instead of taking it off. Any suggestions/tips for taking this crap off?

yup, blow drier. heat it up and use a hard plastic card (credit card or spackel blade plastic) and scrape it. the hair dryer will loosen the glue and the credit card will scrape it off. then use the goo gone to remove excess glue.

I recommend blow drier and a credit card (or thin plastic piece) and work slowly. Then once you have the sticker, use some GoBeGone juice to remove the sticky, or even WD40 or starter fluid works for removing sticky without harming paint either.

I hate when dealerships do this. I always make them take it off before I buy the car.

Hairdryer and windex works almost as well as gobegone.

The hairdyer is doing the work, the liquid is just there to keep it from reattaching.

FYI, if you use a credit card, try a few quick passes on the edge of it with some super fine sandpaper just to knock off any possible rough edges. Very unlikely you'll ever scratch the paint, but why take the chance?

Agreed. I did that went getting my girlfriend new car. They have two big *** dealership stickers on it. I said to take it off or we'll charge for advertising your dealerhsip at a rate of $45 an hour per every hour we drive. They took it off.

I hate those too. I have the dealer remove those too before I take delivery. On my RX-8 though, there were no such stickers, just the license frame that will go as soon as I get my permanent plate.

my dealer gave me "such a phenomonal deal" that he requested i keep the front and back license plate frames on for at least 6 months. I told him he could paint the dealership name on the windows if he knocked off another 5 grand.. he wasn't too responsive to that suggestion.

i asked him if that was going to be in the contract, when he said "no", i said "sure"

the back one came off that day, I'm trying to find an Ace Hardware that has their universal license plate holder in stock. It's a 2.50 part and will work perfectly on the 8. Too bad I can't find one in the bay area with it in stock. I could order it online but it just rubs me the wrong way to pay 6 bucks in shipping for a 2 and a half dollar item.

Ooooooooooo... The front plate frame. That is another thing I hate. Unless the state the car is going to be registered in requires front and rear plates, that damn thing needs left off.

I just took mine off yesterday, and it was the stencil type along with another sticker they slapped on there.

I went to Autozone and picked up "Sticker lifter" by GooGone. It came with a little tool that won't scratch your paint. It works well. Also, if you use a hair dryer PLEASE BE CAREFUL as it will EASILY leave a burnt spot on your paint.

I hate this **** , my dealer put some kind of sticker on my windscreen (small square one) dunno what it was. And they peeled it off before i took delivery of my car, it left the nastiest stain on my windscreen, I should take it back and tell them to take it off.

^ Yeah I had a friend who just bought a new truck. It has two stickers roughly 2.5" x 2.5" in size, one bright neon yellow and the other a lime green- pretty obvious. He tried to remove them and his window how has a permante neon yellow and lime green "stain" on the windsheild. He isn't the confrontational type so I'm trying to get him to take it back to the dealer and make them replace his windsheild.

Ok, so I finally got the damn thing off. I just kept peeling away and used goo-gone for the residue left behind. Never again will I buy a car with any kind of sticker on it! My fingertips hurt like hell.........

No plug in my apt garage = no hairdryer. Thanks anyways for the tips guys.
