nice 04wb, your trunk looks exactly like mine. haha. except you have a much nicer color. but removing the last two badges requires repainting the entire trunk. thats at least $800. :/

Mine only cost me 300 bucks and I have VR which is one of the most expensive colors. My body shop guy didn't have to repaint the whole trunk. He just painted the back part after filling in the holes. He did clear coat the whole trunk but everything matches up perfectly. :P

as much as it costs to get the car debadged, why not buy a carbon fiber trunk and get it painted. it would cost only a little more, and would actually have function. and allow you to put it back to stock at a later date and sell the carbon fiber?

What function? are you really needing to loose 3-5 lbs on your daily driver, plus the custome work that I ve already done has a much higher resale value than any used carbon fiber trunk, especially if its painted over, people are buying CF more for looks these days than the couple less lbs...

It's to further promote the "what car is that?" In that spirit I might someday pull all the Mazda emblems, but would leave just the trunk "RX-8" (which of course is the easiest to remove - go figger). Keep them guessin'.

Well, every pound helps. And it seems far more logical to me than spending all that money to simply remove the badges. I agree totally that it is a bit much, but call me crazy if I am going to spend round 500 on my trunk, I'd like to know I got more than a fresh coat of paint on it...
I payed $460 for debadging, removing the third brake light welding a new plate in smoothing it over removing the OEM spoiler welding those holes shut, drilling and installing the new wing with integrated third brake light, respray on the trunk and two tone on the wing, for the ultimate clean custom look. refer to post #9 and you will see what I mean...
If I would have just debadged and resprayed it would have been around $150.
