Replacing The Badging

To summarize info from other threads...
Front Center Symbol - posts and adhesive
Rear Center Symbol - posts and adhesive
Rear Left Mazda - posts and adhesive
Rear Right RX-8 - adhesive

Carefully use hot air blower to loosen adhesive. Use floss to seperate the adhesive from the car. Clean.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Now for my questions...

1) Anyone know how many posts on each badge? Where the posts are on each badge?

2) Any sources for badging mods? No Jesus or Darwin fish need to apply.

I'd like to remove the RX-8 and the Mazda. Not worth the cost of filling and painting. I was thinking that a cheaper solution would be to find something attractive to cover the holes. Probably something where the RX-8 was to balance the tail.

Don't really have any good ideas, yet, other than words.
"milo's" "ride" (this will have to be lower case)
"MIKE'S" "RIDE" (mike is my real first name)
"CARPE" "DIEM" (a challenge to others)
"LOW" "MPG"
"IN" "DEBT"
"BLING" "BLING" (hmmmmm.... now that's an idea)
"SAYA" "NORA"
"BUH" "BYE"
"GOTTA" "GO"
"CYA" "L8R"
"EYE" "CANDY"

Something symbolic or ornamental might be interesting:
Large Rotary Symbols (makes for 3 symbols almost on the same horizontal line)

My plate will say RX-8 (can't believe it wasn't already reserved) so no one will wonder what the car is.

milo

P.S. 3 words... (probably won't fit and ugly if it does)
"VENI" "VIDI" "VICI" (another challenge to others)
"ZOOM" "ZOOM" "ZOOM"

But they just say "MAZDA" and "RX-8". They don't look very different.

Removing Emblems?

Has anyone tried to remove the "RX8" or "mazda" or the mazda logo from their cars.

I tried the heat gun / floss techinique. I think the mazda might be bolted on? Any ideas guys?

Cool Posted.....

The 'flying M' in front has posts going thru the hood. Removal would involve filling and painting. (!)

The Mazda on the trunk has posts, the only 'floss removable' logo is the script 'RX8' and that is probably the only one you would want to keep, sorry.

I don't mind the front "M" on the hood. But the emblems on the trunk gots to go. They are placed to close to each other and I like to leave people guessing on what car it is ...

Actually, as I recall, I think it's the other way around... on the back, the "RX-8" and the "Flying M" have posts, while the "Mazda" is stuck on.

Why don't you ask user "P-rock" who just had his removed? See this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...threadid=13911

Also, this has been discussed before... you might want to try doing a search.

Have any of you guys done this to your RX-8

Hey guys. I've been visiting this site (everyday) for the past 4 months. I currently own a Nissan Murano, Pontiac GTP and a Mits. Galant. The GTP is growing old on me and I'm going to get rid of it next spring. In the mean time, there are 3 cars that I am considering. The Mazda 6s, RX-8, and Infiniti G35 Coupe. Of course any one of these willbe manual. :D

Anyway, I have been downloading tons of pics of all three and right now it is a very tough decision. It's really a toss up between the RX and the G, but if the wife and I decide to save a little more $$ we might end up with the M6. We'll see.

Back to my question. Has anyone here debadge their trunk?

Here's a picture of an RX that I did some quick art work in paintbrush. The car belongs to a newbie that just signed on recently. :D (I hope he doesn't mind)

No picture, so I assume you mean removing the logos from your trunk.

On my first RX-8 (returned for a refund and a new RX-8), I had the privilege of some ******* removing the logos from the trunk two nights after getting the car . It was the summer, so the glue wasn't bonded very well. The RX-8 logo pried off without a scratch. The Mazda logo is a plug with two holes into the trunk. They pried it off, broke a little piece off (landing on my driveway), and left two ugly holes in the trunk (ugly for anything other than a black car, where they probably won't be noticable). The dealer replaced the logos for free (I asked for a car cover when I bought the car, but the parts department was closed AND they didn't stock them).

They didn't touch the M logo in the center of the trunk.

If it wasn't for the two holes, I would probably have left it without the logos (or if I had to pay to replace them). The back does look cleaner (again, except for the holes).

If you do this, make sure you remove the plugs that break off into
the space between the trunk and the outside body, the rattle is pretty bad when you raise/lower the trunk lid.

To your photo, there would be two holes about 1/4" in diameter where the Mazda logo (left side) was. With the blue car it would be quite visible.

Dave is right and if I'm not mistaken, if you took off the middle emblem, it would also leave post holes. Actually, the "RX-8" emblem to the right is the only one without posts holes.

Damn! That sucks. I am so glad my 8 is garaged at work and at home. It's never spent a night out.
