Except that if I remember correctly, cutting the RX-8 roof isn't just a simple matter. There are structural braces in the way that you don't want to cut because you'll compromise the integrity of the whole car. The cars that come with a sunroof have a different roof structure from the factory.
So just careful with that saw

Bob's top shop in Orlando can do the work.
When you take the headliner off, you are going to have to rebrace it. If you get a sunroof system from a scrap, it should come with an H frame around it.
This will have to be welded in place but will provide the additional support needed.

I wouldn't do it. Sounds like a big, complicated job with higher than average probability that they'll be problems—now, or later. I like the idea of selling it and getting an 8 with a sunroof much better.

my car was hit three weeks after i bought it, and it was in the shop for 6 months after that. I went to see the car every other day for those six months, and for four of those months the roof was gone, I'm not sure how they did it but one day it was off and the next it was on, didn't seem that complicated. like i said before, I'm buying Dom Owns complete (the entire top of his car between the two little rails) roof and wiring that is needed to make it work. I would love to make it a targa top though but a sun roof is fine with me.
