there's a reason good body kits cost "crazy money" and knock offs are "crazy cheap"

Pay for good fitment out of the box or save money and live with a crappy looking body kit. The only people I've ever seen save money from knock offs are people who own or work for a body shop... and they're still investing a ton of their own time to make these cheap kits fit.

knockoffs,

yuck.

eventually, the original makers are going to go out of business because they put all their money into r&d and someone just up and takes it all away by making a badly fitting knock off, and stealing all their money.

designs are intellectual property. knockoffs amount to stealing.

furthermore, i've only seen 1 rx8 with the d1-gt kit that looked nice. silver/gray two tone set the kit off correctly. every other rx8 has looked bad. so i dont know why anyone would want that kit.

please dont post crap.

Please don't post crap??

Ummmmm.. Clearly you didn't open your ******* eyes and read my second post on this topic... i asked a simple question.

"I don't know much about "Good" body kit company's... what makes them bad??"

So i repeat again... I had no clue that some company's have bad fitting body kits... how am i supposed to know if its crap or not if i know nothing about body kits. (fitting wise)

I thought it was cool because it looked like the D1-gt but apparently its to good to be true? haha

its not about whether it fits properly.

its about intellectual property theft. you dont need to know about body kit companies to realize the inherent problem with knock offs.

So can I go ahead and assume that this spoiler (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=) is also going to be a poor fitment? I love the MS style spoiler, but I don't have 1k to drop on it.

Fluid makes a replica that is guaranteed fitment (IIRC) for about $500 painted.

no one ever said modding was cheap, btw that spoiler has fiberglass mounts, it'll probably break over time, you can replace it with metal ones but i would just save money and buy at least a better replica

I haven't been able to find it on fluid's site, but I'll keep looking. I don't have any real plans to buy a new spoiler any time soon, but the $900+ you have to pay for the Mazdaspeed just seems exhorbitant, so if someone has a viable replacement for it, I'd be very interested.

Thanks for the input.

Fluid is one of the vendors here.

Hmm...seems he doesn't make the replicas anymore...https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=157955

I would suggest PMing him.

i think k2motoring/jsx rotary here in Cali has a cf replica that's pretty good fit for 500, there's a start for you

kersh...you are very cranky dude. take a chill pill. if the original items weren't grossly over priced than there would be no need for replica's.

Replica is something that's been around 4ever. If it's illegal, let the mfgs of the original kits take it up with the courts, but people want after market items on their cars and can't afford the prices that are asked for.

I have no shame in buying replica and I'll admit it's replica..no problem. Not trying to fool anyone. I mod my car for me...nobody else (well the girls too) but they could care less if its replica :D

In regards to the MS Replica spoiler, Fluid does have some. I just bought mine for $300 (unpainted). I haven't even received it yet. There's a thread on their vendor forum of stuff they are trying to sell.

This is mine, pretty sure it's replica (not the first owner).

Overall, it looks good. There is a slightly larger hood gap than I would like though, but overall, most people can't tell.
