Dumbest exterior mod I've yet seen

I was standing in a parking lot yesterday, talking on the phone, and looked over just in time to witness the most hideous RX-8 mod I can imagine...

A roof scoop.

This red '8 was driving by and I only got a glimpse of it, but it was near the rear of the roof, perhaps 8-9 inches wide and stood perhaps four inches above the roof panel. It looked vaguely like a flattened airbox from a Formula-1 car.

Did my eyes deceive me or did it actually have ducting INSIDE the car, going down to the rear deck? My trunk gets pretty hot, baking the contents, but I don't think I need a roof scoop to ventilate it.

There's an old thread on here about roof scoops, but there were no pics. I wonder if someone finally made a "kit" for the RX-8, or if it was a "one size fits all" add-on.

BTW this sighting occurred in a northern suburb of NYC. If you know this person, flog him mercilessly for his bad taste.

That's pretty bad, but I'm not sure it beats this magnetic vent:

BTW, I think roof scoops on front engine cars are more for bringing fresh air to the driver than for cooling things in the trunk. Seen mostly in rally cars where they obviously don't have any stock AC ducting and opening windows would bring a lot of dust and dirt into the cabin... hence the roof scoop. Unless it was some monster 20b swap that required the removal of all the stock AC and climate control ducting, I highly doubt it was functional.

Damn Aipex, you beat me to it!

Those magnetic pieces of crap and the FAKE Big brake kits are near the top of my list.

Fake big brake kits?

Oh, for the love of God....

Of course I wonder why the RX-8 would NEED a "big brake kit" anyway, since it has some of the best brakes ever fitted to a production car.

Conversely, 3rd party provided strakes (rx8strakes.com) , and 15 minutes of easy effort, produced a very nice, and 1/4 the cost of dealer, little add-on.

He's making a joke about the X-wing being the dumbest exterior mod, and so wondering who will be the first to post it in this thread.
