Efini Emblem

Last summer there was a post from a fellow that was "going to" make a new emblem for our 8.

Long story short, the post died.
Since then, I've had the desire to change my front and rear "Flying M" emblem to
give my 8 another unique feature.

Well, I think I've found an emblem that might work ~ It's even rotary shaped!
What do you think?

Hey! you're right! "Super-8" ?!?
Since it's facing the wrong way, perhaps it was made in Europe...?!?!?

That emblem actually belongs on the rx-7's . It's a jdm badge. I was also thinking of putting one of them on my mazdaspeed bumper. I think it looks great.

the trunk might be a problem. i think the efini badges are much smaller.
unless you covered them (debadged the trunk), the holes for the flying m on the trunk would show.

that said, I love the efini badges and would really like to see someone do this.

Do a search there are a couple old threads on this topic...

Efini is a "luxury" line of Mazdas in Japan ... a pure JDM thing..... and yes... the RX-7 was one of the cars....

Personally i think this badge looks killer ..... BUT.......... it DOESNT belong on an 8.... its just like putting a Type R badge on a RSX........

In the other threads there was a consensus that rice is written all over efini badges on 8s...

but hey ... whatever floats your boat

Thanks for your comments.
I realize this emblem is smaller (under 3'' at its widest point).
I don't like the current Mazda badge (Flying M) so, I'm open to suggestions...
Perhaps I should just paint my current badges the same color as my 8 and be done with it..!

The Enfini embelm is definitely a sweet looking emblem, however, I agree with the other guys, it belongs on certain RX-7s. Not our 8s. Debadge or paint the emblems a more subtle color, flat gray or black.

I like it, get it. So what that 1% of 1% of 1% of the population will know where it comes from. Big whoop.

seriously this is the epitome of rice for our cars next to the veilside d1 bodykit.

im not extra **** about JDM badging because some people arent cool with people even putting jdm silvia badges on 240sx's and altezza badging on is300s when they are pretty much the exact same cars. in fact i HAVE jdm badging on all of my cars. my rx8 has the type S badge(my car is equipped exactly how the type S is equipped in japan) my 240sx has 180sx badging, because, its a 180sx. and my rx7 FD has these Efini emblems because it is an efini rx7 being a series 6 version of the rx7 makes it an efini not a mazda.

i think you are just extremely misinformed. efini is a luxury brand of mazda in the 90s and belongs on the cosmo and the series 6 rx7(the fds between 92 and 95) for example. first of all putting that badge on your car is completely false because your car is a mazda, not an efini, it has nothing to do with the rx8 or the renesis for that matter. its as bad as people putting Spirit R badges on their series 6 FDs and type R badges on regular civics.

im not going to tell you not to do it, but im just informing you what that badge represents and means since you don't know anything about it. do as you please with your car, put honda emblems if thats what you like and some type R stickers along with a GTR badge it doesn't matter to me but you might want to learn a litte more about a badge than "it looks cool" before you put it on your car.

the term for putting an emblem that is from another car: rice

I supported the making of the new 8 emblem because we weren't trying to copy anything. Certainly not the efini emblem, but just to show the rotary sign. however it never took off. Over time i started to hate having emblems on. Just debadge and be done with it.

Nice write up. What perplexes me is the amount of people who actually would put this on their car, looking at the polls.

I didn't vote in the poll, becaused I can't...the badge is badass, and it sucks on the 8! Well...sucks is too harsh. I'm not that **** about it not belonging really...its not like you are putting a big "TURBO" on the back (without one under the hood) and I actually had them on my ex ('93 FD). However, they just don't look right with the 8 to me, and I think I would feel that way even if they were up-sized to fit in place of the upside-down-pringles-guy logo that's on there now.
