Efini Emblem installation
#1
Need to drill for Efini front Emblem?
Does anyone know if the Efini Emblem requires hole-drilling or bumper-removal for installation? What kind of glue should I use if it doesn't come with adhesive or double-sided tape?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Then I better leave it nice and clean although I still feel that it 's missing something if the front doesn't carry a badge. Some back badges have only double-sided tapes. Can I use the back Efini instead to put it in front it that's the case?
If I have to drill holes, do I have to take off the bumper and drill holes from the back to avoid damage/scratches or something?
Thanks

I just called the RX7 Store and they said I can simply cut the posts off and glue it on with silicone. The front Efini has 2 posts and the back has three and they are made of plastic so it wouldn't be too hard. Do you agree? Any other risks?
Thanks.
Thanks.

That should work just fine. My emblem's posts went right into the existing holes, but we used silicone as well. How are you going to plug up your holes for the existing Mazda emblems? Show pics when done.

I ordered an MS face and was planning to put on an Efini emblem. I'll probably just leave it without a badge since my brother said that someone may try to steal it using a key or knife and damage the bumper/paint, because I live in an urban area. I think is not worth it to have the bumper damaged. What do you think? It looks pretty good without it anyway.

How about putting it in the center behind the windshield and near the rotary contour of the hood? I think it'll look cool. What do you think? Wondering how I should stick it on though...glue or tape?
Place it on the center grill mesh is another option, but someone can still yank it out and damage the mesh.

Ok let me just start out by saying the Efini badge is really badass and looks real good....................... ON A RX-7!
Dont you guys think its kinda ricey putting the Efini badge on the 8?.... its just like putting a Lexus badge on a Toyota Matrix?

I agree. Controversial and risky...guess I better leave it.
But is it more discreet sticking it on the windshield, just like a rearview mirror decor?
I thought an RX-8 would be much closer to an RX-7 than a Lexus to a Matrix tho.

I don't think Efini was RX-7 only. Didn't they use it on other JDM cars at the time? To be honest I don't think I've ever seen them on anything else, but I always sort of assumed it was on the same vintage Cosmo.
The stock Mazda "upside down pringles guy" logo is pretty freakin' huge, but doens't the Efini (or any of the smaller, older Mazda badges) look a bit small there?

As far as I know, the FD RX-7 sold in America did not have the Efini badges, they were the Brand name that Mazda used in Japan for several of their cars, not just the FD's. They discontinued use of the name in '98 and rebadged the RX-7's as Mazda's. They also have the brand name Eunos as in Eunos Roadster, (the Miata).
I don't think anyone putting one on their 8 would be much different that one putting one on their American 7.

It's true the Mazda logo is so huge, and yeah it looks like an up-side-down pringle guy!
The Efini emblem looks much more stylish. Since I will keep the Mazda and RX-8 badges in the back so there is actually no confusion of what it is. The Efini emblem has a rotary shape that resonate with other rotary accents on the 8, which is nice.
I did hear that Mazda used the Efini emblem on other cars, especially in Japan because that's what Mazda means in Japan.
Is the Efini big enough to cover the holes left by the Mazda logo in the back? I am wondering if it's lots of work to seal the holes if we were to replace it with an Efini? Can we do it ourselves and how?

Wow, so Mazda uses Efini on other models! Are these all Mazda cars and what models?
Debadging is so much work so I am debating if I should change the back emblem as well or just have the front one as Efini...just for style, since the MS bumper has no emblem anyways.
