Eyelids

My wife purchased a set of EvoR (LIKE) eyelids for my rx-8 off of ebay. They came in today <from china> & I guess i may be a bit confused. These are soft thick clear decals? Are these what Everyone gets for theyre RX 8 ? If so how & what do u use to paint these. These eyelids that I've recieved look like exactly what i've been seeing outthere only didnt know they were very thick decals. Was under the impression they were carbon fiber or fiberglass. Thx in advance for the replies

Most of them are thin plastic, fiberglass, or carbon fiber. Don't think you can paint thick stickers.

I got the Evo-R eylids also. The Evo-R eyelids are about 1/4 inch thick if memory serves. Maybe you got cheap knockoffs?

You have been had. There are some aweful eyelids on ebay..I actually cant believe they would even think of selling them. I can recommend Evo R - price is high, but a good few of us here locally in Phila have them, and so far are holding up very well! (with a coat of zaino too)

try AutoAccessoryStore.com

You have a choice of Carbon Fiber, Polyurethane (paintable surface), or Vinyl (decal) eyelids.

Has anyone bought anything from there? It looks a little shady, especially when you go to the 'RX-8' page and the eyelid looks like it was photoshopped on rather than an actual piece.

If you want to save yourself some grief and have peice of mind.. go with the EVO-R eyelids. Can't go wrong with them.

They used my car to design them. I saw them. I got paintable and my friend will paint them to match body color. Once installed, I'll post pics.

I don't like them at all. Makes the lens look squinty. IMO. Don't they cut out some light as well?

If the Evo R stle eyelids that you are referring to came off of ebay from a Jason, if I remember his name correctly, they should resemble a thick domed vinyl, though it is probably a flexible polyurethane, which has an adesive on the back side with real carbon fiber just at the back side encased in this material is what you are talking about, they are both paintable and very high quality.

I have had the CF on mine for well over 6 months and they are as stuck and nice looking as the day I put them on. They are not a "Sticker:, they are a clear polyurethane material that is similar to the material in domed stickers but, I would not consider them to be a true sticker due to the real Carbon Fiber in them. This is just a way of manufacturing them in a style that is both functional and asthetic.

All one has to do to get them painted is to have a paint shop do it. They will know to use a flex additive to the paint which is required on a flexible material such as this. Also, even Fiberglass and rigid polyurethane require the flex paint. Here is a pic of mine with the CF eyelids by Evo R.

Thumbs up

More CF eyelids. They are not stickers. Clear polyurethane UV protected. Suppose to last years without turning yellow.
