Eyelids - To Paint or Not to Paint...
I got a set of those $30 eyelids from ebay, figuring they were too cheap to pass up and wanted to see how they would look. I was surprised by how much I liked them when they came, and after much debating with myself, I decided to put them on unpainted. I know pretty much everyone on here thinks they need to be painted, but I think they go with my "theme" of Brilliant Black/Flat Black that I have going on. The emblems and B pillars are flat black, so its not really a theme but I think it makes the eyelids not stick out so much. I figure that anyone who cares enough about an RX8 to notice I have eyelids will know if they're painted or not, so I might as well do something a little bit different, and meanwhile everyone else probably won't look close enough to notice or care that they're not the same color.
What do you guys think? If you saw this car on the street, would you automatically turn it down? I'm asking because as stupid as it sounds, you guys here are the only ones that I actually care about how you feel about my car its mods. I've already gotten some flak for buying a "cheap" exhaust, and now I'm seeing how far I can push the line. Lemme know what you think.

paint them flat black, problem solved?
I'm probably not the best guy to ask about eyelids since I think they look retarded BUT if you are going to add parts, they should probably be painted.

Is there something we are supposed to see in order to really comment on?
If so..............and your car is equipped with a cloaking device, please turn it off.

Sorry, I should have said that they came with a flat black primer. I kinda agree with you Jedi, if most people on here think it looks bad then I'll probably just take them off. I don't think they look THAT good to spend a couple hundred euros to paint them.
And Mazurfer, the only recent pic with them on isn't a very good shot of them, but you get the effect.

the beast: I must admit I am probably in the minority with my opinion on eyelids. I believe most people here like the look of certain eyelids so don't let my opinion deter you
at the end of the day, you should do what makes YOU happy.
you seem to like them so.....
a couple HUNDRED euros to paint eyelids?! what? that's robbery.

Well........they don't look that bad from what I can see.
I've never really come to a conclusion as to whether I really like eyelids or not.
I think it depends on car color, make of eyelids.............etc.

They're a Kei Office replica, $30 on ebay and they're great quality. I'm the same Mazurfer, one day I think they look great and then the next I'm getting the Goo Gone out to take them off...
And yeah, the couple places around here that speak English pretty well all want quite a bit of money for something that I think is worth 50 euro or so at the most. Its one of the disadvantages of being an American in Europe hehe.

Cool, sounds good. I'm in Germany, but I have some friends in Italy if I could find a cheaper price down there. My friend recommended me a place yesterday actually that I'm going to check out, he says its owned by an American and has decent prices. He paid only 300 euro to have the front bumper on his GTI painted a hard to match silver, so I'm hoping I'll get a good deal.
