what i dont understand is why jay would go thru the trouble of putting an extra tab somewhere. he takes the original and makes a mold of it right, therefore its theoretically an exact copy of the original? that tab is probably there on the original and a pain in the *** just the same

^ and she answered it already.

Her vents have a clip at the top, from what I understand, she bent the clip back, put the vent in place, then bent the clip around the frame of the hole so it held the top in place.

She posted it a few posts back.

well, I guess I didn't know the Autobahn vents were so shitty.

Then it isn't Jay's fault, it's the fact that Autobahn sucks.

Sweet, I'll refrain from buying any Autobahn parts.

I apologize Jay for ragging on you in the previous posts. I thought that you had just done a half-assed job of making a replica. Thats clearly not the case and autobahns parts are just very sub-par. For the future perhaps you could make improvements to the vents so they fit properly without any modification from the user.

Chris....
i think you have totally missed the point im trying to make here...

the design of these vents precludes any real easy or "plug and play", if you will, installation process...it just cant happen....

as far as autobahn making shitty stuff.....I disagree,,,,my fender vents are freakin ridiculously saweet....

Oh, I'm not saying the look is shitty, cause they look amazing. It's the engineering thats shitty! Your vents do look sweet!

But, I ask you, why can't a plug and play installation happen? Clearly Au-to Bahn just put out a product as quickly as they possibly could with no real engineering involved. They've entered the realm of gReddy in my mind.

So, honestly tell me, why couldn't you design a vent that looks exactly like the au-to bahn one yet be as easy to install and high quality as the mazda one?

I think I would have the factory direct mold the mesh in the vents itself. This will be easier for you guys to install and won't cut your hand. =) Less work for you more work for us.

i would prefer to be able to put my own mesh. if you can get it to fit perfectly without mesh at all, then i think that would be good. leave the mesh to us.

so what about cf? any time soon?

Darn it! I should have just cut myself on the mesh and sued! then I could have bought a lot more mods, or maybe pay off my car!

Okay guys... Just bought a damged RX-8. Going to drop the engine and tranny and put RX-7 13B TT engine on it... Anyway I had a chance to put on the vents myself. The very top metal bracket need to be remove in order to fit. I just test fit woth out the mesh. The other side fender is gone so cannot test fit.
Clearly alot of space for the mesh to put on...

wow forgot all about this thread : ..........I never even posted pics of my setup...

all I have to say is that I had no fitment issues and the vents turned out great....especially with the glossy finish I had done....

welli did have problems with the mesh....but other than that the pieces fit like stock and felt secure....then again I did secure them differently ....

but overall I would say 8/10 ...simply because one point is being taken off for the mesh...and another because on my left fender vent it feels like one of the openings is a little long...but thats only if I get up really close...will measure the bottom holes on each side to see if its just me...or if its really just slightly off...

also will finally get pics up after I finish with spring break....

also look for the G37 spy pics I got while I was out in Arizona
