Front Air Dam Install hard?

Hello,

I want to install the front air dam but I was wondering how difficult it is to do it myself? What is required for the install? Thanks.

Welcome to the club. I don't have an answer to your question, but I would like to know too because I'm probably going to buy one soon. Where in SUnnyvale are you located, maybe we could meet up. What kind of 8 do you have, etc etc. Good luck!

Hi Hard,

I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. I just got my 05 blue 8 about a month ago, I have 1400 miles on it now. Sunnyvale isn't very big haha, but I'm on the south end Cupertino border. Where are you from?

Damn, you drive a lot lol.

Anyways, I just got my 04 Sunlight Silver RX-8 (only had 98 miles on it from it's drive from Sacramento to a Redwood dealership, so it is pretty much brand new) a month ago too, and I have around the same amount of miles you have on it. I live in San Jose/Los Gatos right by Leigh High School if you know where that is. You can check out my car so far on my cardomain page www.cardomain.com/id/silverrx8 Not many mods done to it yet, but I have clear corners coming and I hope to add a few more things.

its not very hard to install.

You basically take off the front bumper, remove the stock air dam, look for x's on the back side of the bumper and drill them out, then bolt/tape on the new air dam

Just got finished putting on my front air dam. Really wasn't too hard but you REALLY need a clean, open space to work on the bumper once its off. You need to drill 3 holes on each side of the stock bumper and manuever the dam to get its bolts in the holes. It would be better with 2 people doing it but my wife was taking a nap. Long story short (too late), it looks good, it was easy too put on (and bumper off) but somehow I wound up scratching the bumper right below my Mazda symbol. DRAG!!!! I'm not sure yet whether the dam is worth the scratch. Oh well. I'll try to do pics later
