I've seen a few pictures of RX8's that the front doors slide upwards instead of opening like they normally do. Was this a special edition of the RX8 or is this some kind of mod?

It's a mod. They are call Vertical doors. A membere here has them , I think her name is Shinka 213.

i was picture a different thing for some reason

sorta like a van door at the begining sliding....then gradually slides at a angle...lol..i duno why i thought of that.

like it will have rails the whole way..

dont listen to any of those fools, the rx8 came in a type R version that came from the factory with those doors.

dude it's the JDM Type-R Mazdaspeed version, not just the Type-R version. Duh.

 

open your doors and slam on the brakes, then they'll get stuck in that position.

 

funny there should be a posting about vertical doors. i actually just got my car back the other day from my local dealership. this is the second time ive had to bring my car in due to the problems the doors have caused. ive already spent more than half of the original cost to install them, on repairs. but i guess thats just the price you pay for having really cool doors,...right?

 

some people drive with their doors up to show off.. i always laugh.

agreed. and if someone would have listed the kit, wing, doors, etc. i would have thought it would look over the top but with that drop and the whole combination...well done.
