Oh... they'll never touch my 8.

Ordered them on the 4th. Heard nothing from them by the 11th. Sent them an email asking what was up with the order... was told to call.
I called (because I suppose email is just too modern for them) and was told, "Oh, you want to speak with XXXX, call back in an hour"

So... I posted a negative feedback, started a paypal charge back and waited.

About 10 seconds later I had a negative review to my eBay account and then an email a short time later. They agreed to ship since I agreed to take back my negative review.

I received the dampers by fed ex on Saturday the 14th. I instantly both rued and lamented my purchase. The dampers look like ***, the parts look like more ***.

It was missing one threaded coupling and the other was bent. The ball ends look like metal from the titanic and the chrome (yes, chrome) was already flaking.

I've already started the process for the group buy on the Tein Dampers..... Lesson learned.

I'm going to keep the Godspeeds and use them as a reminder to not be a cheap-*** when it comes to my 8. Maybe I can use them to hold up the dog door?

1. Notice the odd "Clinton-esque" bend to the end of the damper. At first I thought it was the cap that was drilled incorrectly.. nope, the threaded stud at the end of the damper is bent

2. Look at the size of these monsters! I dont want to take my hood partially off to install them. Their E-bay pics show a Tein-like bracket.

3. The snap/swivel end in all of it's chrome glory. Only one is installed since the threaded coupling for the second damper was missing.

4. Here's a closer view of the gap between damper and screw on extension. That's torqued down as far as it will go.

5. Check out that rust.. yummy!

6. A final parting shot of the view askew hood damper..

sucks. I was considering getting these too- less than half the price of the Teins, but you're right- you get what you pay for.

Mine are great. No complaints here. You can see them in my sig. Install was easy and IMO they look considerably better than that darn hood prop.

Tein's only come in their signature green so that was an immediate "no" from me in the beginning. Did some research, found another guy on the forum that had purchased them and was very happy. A positive referal and a decent price made it a no brainer for me. Fortunately it all worked out.

Have you attempted to have them send you another set? When I spoke with them after the eBay purchase, they seemed very nice over the phone.

Good luck.

Any one hear have hood dampeners & a carbon fiber hood? That would really clean things up to get rid of that bar.
