Has anyone tried this yet......
So I got bored and thought this might be an interesting and CHEAP modification.... My friend did this to his '91 Miata because it also has a stock aluminum hood and it coame out great, a nice mirror finish.... this is the first part of the polishing, it will recieve another wet-sanding or two, and another good coat of mothers polish with the rotary buffer.... :-) I did a search on here and couldn't find anyone else mention this, so I thought I woud try it... whats the worst that could happen... I mean its not hard to repaint a hood... :-) so here are a few pictures of my POLISHED HOOD.....

Very interesting. I mean it's cheap alternative and I am sure it took alot of time to do. I am going to say yes it looks good, but... very uh. different.

give it a chance... it'll grow on you... it's JDM yo.... :-) it gets a few interesting looks right now... but there is a red FD RX-7 riding around here with a polished hood as well... and my friends Miata.... so atleast I am not alone.... besides its all about weight reduction LOL.... I'm sure I will get some negative feed back on this, but I like it...... it will look a lot different when it has a final mirror finish and I will post pics when I am done for those who would like to see it.... :-) (P.S. this has to be the RICEiest thing I have ever done)

ok.. so here is the pic of my buddy's miata.... I would love to do this to my miata as well.. but I can't copy him.. so I'll just keep it primer grey with the flat stripes... little side note.. we both autocross the miata's so that is why there is a lack of paint on them... no need right now for paint when there are too many goodies to go on them instead.....

I like the look of polished aluminum but it doesn't match anything else on your car...
If you had polished aluminum wheels and strakes it might look more like it belongs.

I do have the polished strakes, polished lips on my wheels, and a satin finish fuel door, along with the exhaust finishers.
I am not a huge person for bling, I just thought it would be unique.... it does get a lot of attention.... :-)
