Headlights

Hey guys, i wanted to replace my headlight and get HID headlights. Do i have to buy the Xenon Head Light HID BALLAST IGNITER separately? Or does it come with the head lights?

These are headlights i was looking at:

No, no ballasts with those - and did you notice they are $599 EACH!!?

That's insane.

I think I should sell the few sets I have sitting around.....

Do NOT buy a cheap HID kit for your headlights. The reflective lens inside a halogen projector has a totally different focal point from that of an HID projector and isn't meant to be used with an HID bulb for a VERY GOOD REASON.

Read up at hidplanet, or Daniel Stern's site, on it. Or buy the cheap kits, convert your lights, and get a fat ticket for DOT violation.

you may not get in trouble, but you WILl have headlights that don't work properly.

Again, HID bulbs emit their light at a different point than halogen bulbs do, so the light isn't reflected properly out of a halogen projector. It's dangerous, it can cause you or an oncoming car to get into an accident, and it's a stupid thing to do.

Headlights are safety equipment. Don't put two things together that weren't meant to go together, and don't work properly together, just to save a couple of bucks.

i have an HID kit and while the headlights look cool, what the member said above is fairly true, you cant see hardly anything i find myself driving around a lot with my brights on when im not around other cars. i wish there was some way to adjust my kit but i dont think there is. i would say keep them stock but thats just my 2 cents.

I've got an HID kit. 8000K.

They work perfectly fine to me. The cutoff point is most of the time out of the way of other driver's side views and oncoming doesn't get much above the grille.

The visibility is notably better and it covers a much greater distance.

Best way is to buy proper HID lights, with purpose-made HID projectors. There are nice HID retrofits out there, but 'kits' refers to rebased bulbs in halogen projectors, typically.
