Headlights - Halogen or HID
Hi how can i know if my rx8 has halogen or hid headlights, i know that hid (is this the same as xenon) if is like xenon should be brighter, and it has like a system with a motor or something, my car is a 2004 and i'm trying to buy another pair of headlights but i have to figure it out if they are halogen (normal) or hid, i think they are halogen because my lights are no so bright but i need to know for sure, can anyone help me ?

What options do you have on your car? If your car came with the fog lights off the assembly line, then your HID. If you have the halogen's, you can replace them with an HID converision kit with H7 bulbs, if it came with the factory HID's you need to buy the D2S type of bulb for replacement.

I just know that all manual rx8's 2009-2011 came with Xenons EXCEPT the R3's which are Halogen(seems pretty stupid to me)
not that any of this helps you though.
take a picture of youre headlight and post it up.
EDIT: im a dumbass the R3's did come with xenons... the sports did not. I looked at my 2011 brochure wrong.

you guys do understand that it could still be HID if it has a yellow tint right? There are different color temperatures, and if he isn't a first owner you never know what the previous owner did.

Those pics look like HID to me... and if there is a leveling mechanism ("motor" as you put it), then they most certainly are HID.
I don't see why the previous owner would replace HID with halogen (unless for cost saving after an accident that damaged both headlights).

Still don't know
Well this is an unfinished thread, i didn't say that it has a 'motor' in there, i said that i know some hid systems has like a 'motor' corresponding to the ballast, i need to know if i have hid or halogen, it should be a way to do it, i won't going to buy a $1k headlights without knowing what kind of headlights i have, any help would be appreciate it...

check your drivers side rear lower control arm. if you find this creme colored box with the arm that connects them together, you have HID's. its the rear headlight level sensor for OEM HID headlights.

Well, 10k is gonna make it a lot less bright... If you still want your brightness and some blue, go 8k.
