help painting emblems

help! painted emblem on front first as a test, glad i did. i used a metallic gunmetal which looks beautiful usually, but when this dried it turned a disgusting matte grey color... almost primer-like. why? and what can i do to fix it?

Was the paint made for plastic? It sounds like it ate away at the plastic...always sand, always primer, always clear...quick search would have brought you to that information

Try using bleach to clean the emblems then sand it and rise it.. then go with the primer and paint.. thats what I did and it came out the flat black. ohh and for the paint I used Krylon Fusion paint which worked great!

Reposted on this post sense its more recent...

you see me and my friends tried a experiment with DIY painting a crappy dealer emblem. We sanded it up a little with like 220 grit, then we primed it twice, shot it with rustoleum black paint for plastic (which btw the black wasnt black enough for me and it seemed somewhat gray) and after 2 shots of that we then put 2 coats of clear on it and the last coat of clear somewhat bubbled... Wasnt very satisfying 2 hours to see the project go to ****.

Did you put primer on before? If so how many coats?

Did you put a clearcoat on? and if so how many coats of that?

What grit sandpaper should be used?

Any help would be appreciated...
