Help: Pinstripe Removal
So when i bought my car it had a pin stripe on it. i put up with it but now i want it gone. I cant tell if its on there really well with adhesive or if its painted. i tried to heat it up and use my finger nails or plastic edges to peel it off with no luck
So do i need to be move abrasive if its a vinyl? and if it is painted on how do i go about getting it off? (people say use nail polish remover, but idk if im comfortable with that on my paint)
let me know if you guys have any insight! thanks
**if its painted on its post factory which means its over the clearcoat and there has to be a way to get it off with some type of mild thinner (by a professional of course)

Hmm.. this could be a tough one. Even if they are the cheap $5 at autozone pinstripes sitting in the sun could really help them bond alot. Lets say they are paint, whether under or over the clear- you're probobly looking at repaint. Even if they are over the thin rx8 clear trying to remove them would result in removing the clear and probobly accidentally down to the primer.
Got any close up pics?

When I bought my car the dealer had apparently installed the pinstripe to make it more 'sporty'. Good thing they actually noted installing the pinstripe on Carfax (they were very thorough in that regard). It was installed about a month before I bought it and I removed it a month after I bought it. Pain in the *** because the stripe kept breaking as I was peeling it off but I got it all off. It looks like when they first installed it though they pressed too hard on the razor they used to cut it and they left marks in the paint.
to the op.. i would imagine its simple to find out if its paint or a stick on thing.. run your nail over it..?
