HID beam cut-off question

Hey guys,

Somehow my headlights became misaligned, and now each headlight has a different cut-off level. The beam patterns look vaguely like this:

HTML Code:
     _____________
____/

          ______________
_________/
The lower beam (closer to the car) is the right headlight, and as shown above its beam pattern is slightly to the right of the left one. If I aim the right headlight up, will the pattern also shift to the left to match the left headlight's pattern? The way it seems now, if I aim it up, the patterns won't line up.

I haven't tried aiming them yet, but I was a little confused by the aiming procedure. It says you shouldn't tighten and then loosen the screws. So if I'm just trying to aim it upwards, can I just turn them to the right (tighten), and leave it? How about it I overshoot it and need to lower them? Should I aim them lower than they should be, and then aim up to the correct spot again?

Sorry if that's confusing, but thanks in advance for any tips.

that didnt happen it was made like that for a reason the driver side is aimed lower so it doesnt get in the eye of oncoming traffic ... theres a way to adjust it but i would leave it that way as its meant to be for a reason

Hmm, I could have sworn that there used to only be one cut-off line for both lights. And besides that, it's the passenger-side light that is lower on my car. I just don't remember it being like that.

Okay, I guess I'll attempt to re-aim the lights. Can someone explain the note in the aiming procedure about tightening the screws? Here is the actual note:

If the adjusting screws are tightened first, then loosened, they will continue to loosen when the vehicle is in motion and may cause the headlights to become misaligned. Always turn the screws in the tightening direction.

So does this mean if you're aiming the headlights down (loosening), you need to finish up by aiming up a little (tightening)? The wording just seems a little ambiguous to me.

Thanks again.
