HID Installation

Couldn't find this piece of information from search so sorry if I missed it somewhere beforehand.

Anybody know how to get new HIDs and Ballasts installed on an 8? Can it all be done by unscrewing the plastic by the tires or would removing the bumper be ideal?

Thanks,
khaira93

Do you have factory HIDS? If so then you can change the bulbs but the headlights have to been torn apart or cut to replace the ballasts. If you have factory halogens then you can install them.

I believe they are factory xenons(white). They are not very bright anymore and one of the lights is much more dim than the other. A friend of mine assumed a ballast may be going out, so replacing them all would be safer.

I would try replacing the bulbs first before spending the money and time on new ballasts.

Would oem ballast be able to handle new 8000k bulbs? I believe the bulbs are 35 Watts.

yep, ballast can light off any 35w bulb. Take note the higher the color temperature (standard is 4300K) the lesser the light output.
