HID kit?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda...0141QQtcZphoto

Seems a lot cheaper than kits for other cars that I've owned. Is this for real? And is there anything I should know about this kit? Should I be worried about melting anything?

Yes it is real. And it is also crap. There is no such thing as a good HID kit. Search hidplanet.com and you'll see oem is the only way to go. Even if you're trying to retro your fogs, use an oem ballast off another car that came with hid's. (lexus, audi, bmw....) The rx-8 comes with Denso ballasts. (very good)

Are you trying to do your fogs or headlights?

Here is a pic of the ballast in our car. This is not my image.

You should look on ebay for a set of hid headlights off a wrecked rx-8. The projectors in the HID headlamp are different then the ones in the halogen headlamp.

^^Agreed with Rasp^^

But, you can get decent aftermarket HID's that will do the job for most people. however OEM is the best. The Denso Ballasts are very good. If i can score a set for my fog light HID's id be real happy.

I cheaped out on the fog light HID's and got one of the cheapy kits off of ebay.... they are junk, the Hid flicker when turned on. I pulled it out a few days after... However my K-light kit for my head lights have been flawless thus far. (knock on wood)

try to find a set of ballasts off of a wrecked car that you can get for cheap, most aftermarket HID kits really aren't that great but the few that I've seen with some shred of quality are at least $500-600
