HID length
so i bought a hid kit from ebay and when installing i noticed that the bulb length was different. my buddy bought one for his car, MS3, and his came with an adapter for space length. is there a way to get these or a vendor that sells correct bulbs? why did mazda make different bulbs

Seriously.. FML..
I'm guessing you have the non-HID model 8 right? Are the bulbs H7? The HID kit I have were pretty much the same size? They were slim style bulbs. Here's the kit I bought. Best $100 I've spent on the 8. I never trust those ebay HID kits..

i think its sport/base (no sunroof/ cloth seat/no heater/ no rear mirror garage opener)....but when i start , it takes a while to get bright....sorta like getting brighter ....
04 lightning yellow 6spd manual. my lights take a while to turn on (1-2 seconds)....like when u turn on , it gets brighter when hotter....isnt that how HID's are ? im super confused

my friend bought some HID housings from the retrofit source for his tsi and put them on with ebay HID bulbs and we saw that they werent shining like they should they were very dim i pulled the bulb out just a tab and i got ten times brighter i told him to buy just the bulb but the real factory or replacement and they were fine it seemed that cheap aftermarkets that are sold are a little longer and at the point where the light was it wasnt focused properly but replacement OEM or in lamens terms the expensive bulbs are fine

yes i have the base model (non-HID). the bulb length is distinctively different. it looks like im going to have to suck it up and buy a new kit from a reputable vendor.

The bulb length is going to be different. You are replacing your H7 headlight bulb with an HID bulb that has been mated to an H7 base. The HID is going to be thinner and longer. That's the nature of HID kits and the reason they are technically illegal for road use. The bulb shape will not match the optics of the housing or projector. All kits use the same bulb shape and mate that to all the different bases, so some are going to be further off than others.

Oh! There probably is a removable extender on the base of the H7 bulb that you will have to take off and put on the HID bulb. My g/f has a Mazda3 with halogens and I had to remove an extra plastic base piece and move it to the new replacement bulb when she had a bulb out. It was pretty hard to get off too, I wasn't sure if it was part of the bulb or not at first.
