i'm making the decision of where and design of the vent to be after seeing the rx8 in pre-release form. dunno how to put link to it yet, but check out the website if you like and tell me what you think.
autospeed.au.com and look for rx8...
cheers.

^^ or go to the "vortex generator" thread in this section and look for the link provided by wolverine.
once in that site, skip all that bullshit and find the rx8 on the bottom of the page, then click on that.
it shows the "better looking" rx8 in its concept form. without the side fender vents. but rather with hood vents...though it was only concept...damn wish they had that hood as an option...then we wouldn't have to be cutting our hood.
cheers, hhope you find it.

i REALLY like the placement and shape of the hood vent on the concept. i will do something similar on the exhaust side. maybe less vents and not as drastic.

anyways, after all that long time waiting for the past few months thats been raining and me being me, careful and patient with my hood vent mod. (you do only get one oem hood afterall) the hood vent is finally done.
i didn't go drastic, so only one vent on the exhaust side... and i couldn't get it to look like the concept car's vent due to its structural design not allowing me to make functional cuts under the hood in that location.
need i mention that it was a long process... and could be done better had i plan out further ahead and started out with proper fund and tools to begin with.
this was a hood lighten and vent joint venture, so i will get pics up soon after i paint the underside of the hood.
so far, the hood weighs just a tad under 13lbs.
what does a carbon fiber unit weigh?

^^ i'm sure it has something to do with pedestrian safety issues... at least thats what honda fit says about their hood design for pedestrian impact.
