How to fill drill holes?
Hey Guys,
So planning to get rid of the OEM Appearance Package side skirts, but I keep hearing about the "legendary drill holes". That being said, I'm just curious if there is any alternate "fill" for the holes other than giving the car to the body shop and giving them a paycheck :/ Someone suggested "rubber stoppers", but can't find anything at Home Depot, Auto Zone, Advanced Auto Parts..Things like that. Only thing that came close was a rubber cork from Home Depot, but I have a feeling that might not work. just wanted to see if anyone had any sort of recommendation, or anything at all to help me out. I really want these things off and just fill them for now until I have money to get he car wet sanded, holes filled properly and few things touched up. Anyways, any words of advice would be great, thanks gang.

depending on the size of the hole, you might be able to get away with the same plastice sanp rivets that hold things the bumper on and the blanketed liner of the hood and trunk...
there are many different sizes of these rivets at the auto stores you cited, you can even paint them to color match.

Hmm...Good point. So essentially, step 1 is just take the damn things off first then size it up I suppose. I guess I'll go from there, thanks. If anyone has any other ideas too, please send em my way.

Another thing you might want to consider is the fastener having a rubber washer on the back side that contacts the body. If these are going to be exposed to the elements then it would be a good idea that they at least seal up the hole too.
Or you could take a small bit of silicone and fill the hole with it first. Then install the fastener. Wipe up any excess and that should seal it nicely.

I bought some plastic inserts that snap into hole. I painted and cleared them. Unfortunately I bought the wrong size. I forgot the name of them but I will check when I get home.

Hey PD, any luck? The body clips didn't fit. I bought 10 different kinds..all too small. So for now it has electrical tape over the holes. Can't tell on black. lol Also looks like the stone guards my friend had are cut too short, so I'm back to square one. Plus I need the clips for it.

To be honest I didn't. I'll have to get back to you on that. Or you could take off your AP and see for yourself
I'll let you know though. The typical body clips don't fit though, it's just SLIGHTLY bigger than those, if that helps any. Same as the one you showed me. lol

haha...
I just took a pic of the plastic plugs I painted. BTW these are for the trunk because I removed the spoiler. I forgot the name of the plug but they are at Home Depot. I'm sure you could buy them at any hardware store. Also this just a stop gap until I pay someone to fill the holes and paint the trunk.

Sounds good. That helps a lot. Do you happen to remember at all what color they were before painted and what they were called? I asked someone in Home Depot and explained what I was doing and he sent me to "wood plugs" and rubber corks basically..
