I need a lot of help

Ok, I have recently came into possession of a Mazda rx-8, Lightning yellow to be exact, and I was looking at all the cool things you can do with them, and they look nice, its just im a literal car newbie with a lot of friends with car know how, which means I have the money and they can do the actual "work".

Anyways the questions that I have are .........

I bought my car in November, and was told that it has "special wheels" which I've now determined to be Mazdaspeed wheels, now since the car was pre-owned, I would like to know if the car has had anything else done to it, that maybe I'm just not noticing because i thought it was stock everything but i don't really know.

The things that I really liked the look of, were the D1-GT Veilside kit, and the black carbon fiber hood, and maybe throw some new seats in there.

The questions I have are mostly, First off ........ are those tires mazda speed tires, all I know is they are "low profile" and I can buy a $250 "Tire plan" so if one of them goes flat they replace it, but is it really worth it??? Like i said I don't know.

Another question that comes to my mind is, I see people talking about the Tein-S
for lowering the car or something??? How much does that run, and how would you "do that" right, plus what would the cost be? Like my car is actually pretty special around here (not alot of nice cars) , and I don't want to ruin it, I just want to accentuate it, and I like the looks of a lot of other peoples cars on this forum, I don't want to throw a Greddy Turbo on it untill i have the cash and until I've payed the car off (I'm 22, and this was my first car on my own), So really I would like to do just some aesthetic things to it, but not a lot of people have the Lightning Yellow.

For example, I would probably like some really nice rims, but with the yellow i can't really "imagine" rims on car and if they would look good or just bad you know?

So yeah I basically just need the 411 basics, I was able to ascertain some information, but most of the stuff i was looking for just wasn't available from a search.

Also if theres anything you guys think would be nice that I haven't thought of then please feel free to share your opinion

For the record

The below link is to the D1-GT veilside kit, I just want to know what does that car have, and what do I need to "buy" to make it the yellow version of that?

Those are the stock rims, they are not mazdaspeed...the guy who sold it to you lied. Every 8 comes with those.

how on earth did you determine that your stock wheels were mazdaspeed wheels? looking at any 8 would show that these wheels are on every Touring and GT model sold.

Yes you do!

You must be young. You obviously did no research before buying your car and bought it on emotion only. If you had read any review of the 8 before you bought it you would have seen a picture and they would all have those wheels.

"I was able to ascertain some information, but most of the stuff i was looking for just wasn't available from a search"

All of the info you seek except for ignoramus items such as Mazdaspeed tires and tire plans for the cost of two tires are easily searchable.

Also, how can anyone tell if you car has had anything done to it if all you show is the exterior. Under the hood shots maybe? So far all I can see is someone painted your calipers (and pads ). Maybe it's been lowered. What color are your springs?

Did you know your car burns oil on purpose and you should check it every other fill up? Honestly, did you? R-E-S-E-A-R-C-H.

OP - Most tire plans only cover the tread life left on the tire.

Example - If you have tires installed and IMMEDIATLY have a major problem with one. You will most likely get a new tire. If you are driving for a while on the tires you purchased the plan for, and let's say you use up 50% of the tread on them, you most likely will have to pay 50% of the price of a new tire should something happen to it.

As people said , need more research and jump around btw websites and forums. It takes time and i did that when i first have my 8. It was like a month ago i started to mod. i learn from a lot of people in the meetings and forums. But just keep your mind open and you can received a lot of great information about the 8. I suggest Tein s tech springs, it cost around 150 shipped and lower your car alot. also yellow on 19 in. black rims will be aggressive.

lol, I dunno i was just guessing on the wheels, the guy kept saying something about them was special, which i found kind of weird so i just thought maybe they were upgraded, if that's the case than I'll definitely be looking at new rims. As far as the car is concerned, yeah i didn't really research it before I bought it, what happened is I had a white 350z lined up to buy and had researched those, and when i test drove one I didn't really like the inside or feel of it, and while i was on the test drive i saw the yellow rx-8, and I got it that night, I've always liked the rx-7's and this first car was really just a car to build my credit up. All I knew was the rotary engine and had to "trust" the dealer. Who kept spouting something about the wheel's saything they were Low Profile, I didn't care, I just liked the car a lot, as far as cars, I know absolutely nothing about them, which is kind of bad i guess lol, its just I'm more of the guy who knows about electronics, and school work type stuff over cars, I'm actually in the upstate NY area of Albany I dunno how far that is, I mean a group would be nice.

I just wanted to get a jump, and learn a tiny bit, I have 2 mechanics, one of them is the lead mechanic at the UPS hub around here and works on all the trucks, and the other is a guy who has done a lot of import stuff, but finding someone who knows what the rotary is, and how it operates is pretty hard. I constantly get people asking me "what cylinder is it, a V6" and I just agree with whatever they say cause even after i explain it to them they still don't understand.

Cliff Notes:
I want to learn more, and I'm not mechanically inclined, also I have no clue why the "tire plan" would be $250, I don't really trust the dealer but I had no one else to ask, and i just had a cousin who blew a tire that was "low profile" and he said it was like $500 to replace, so i was going to go with the tire plan, but now i dont think im going to.

^^+1 Every question that you'll have, will have been most likely asked already. You aren't the first person to buy an 8, and you'll definately see a lot of people that have been here for a few years. So get familiar with the Search function.
