i was told I need a new bumper cause my bumper cover is broken?!!?!? help

i went to ask for an estimate on getting my bumper painted over cause i wanted to cover up the holes after debadging and the bumper didnt sit right cause i hit a parking stone thing. The guy told me that the bumper cover was broken.. i did crack the front lip so Half my front lip was broken off and i explained that to him but he said that the bumper is no good cause the bumper cover is broken. with the pics below can someone confirm i need a new bumper? or was this guy thinking the lip hardware stuck to my bumper was something else?

you do need a new lip piece but i dont know if you can get that separate. it would be a waste to get your bumper painted then find out you have to replace the whole thing anyways.

there is no problem painting the bumper otherwise.

If the lip is not important to you just cut it out in a clean way and repair the bumper.

I can't tell what's going on in your last picture but is your driver's side corner completely cracked and torn off?

he pointed at the hardware that you can see on the last picture under the double side tape taht i beileve holds the front lip and said the bumper cover that "holds" the lip is broken and the bumper is no good

I think #11 is actually the bumper that absorbs force during a impact.

It doesn't look like you need one though. Maybe the mechanic doesn't know there is two pieces to your bumper cover.

You need the lower lip or the OE air dam.

jbk, where is your undershield? I don't see it in any of your pics...you definitely need that to protect the a/c condenser and radiator also to keep the engine being cooled properly.

the bumper has no crack or torn but the engine undercover is whats ripped up aswell as the driver side mudguard.

i have both engine undercover and mudguard on delivery though..

and when i cracked the lip there wasnt alot of impact. it was while i was parking and the lip cracked...i put it back up but while i was driving on the highway going pretty fast i heard it fall and get torn to shreads so i had to ripp half the lip off

You are both wrong. He needs part #20 in the pic smoke honda posted or the OE air dam.

The OE air dam is the better option of the two because of the holes in the bumper. Filling them will add additional costs to the repair and might as well get a new bumper at that point.

So you are going to remove your front lip and replace it with side skirts

You could drive your car without headlights or a windshield as well but that does not mean they are not needed.

The OE air dam is a seperate piece that attaches to the bumper cover (its a lip)... I just installed mine. You dont need it. However, since you had one there are mounting holes in your bumper cover, if any piece on the bottom of the bumper cover is cracked or missing you will need a new one otherwise you cannot mount your new lip... Or you could just do with out it and drive around with a cracked bumper with holes in it :D
