you would need a new windshield the only way to get the oem one out is to break it,,,
mines is getting sandblasted from road debris, and I imagine the rear window is the same deal, I could probably get a new front windshield by shooting it with a bee bee or chipping it with a rock, I have a low deductable, but I cant think of a way to break my rear window at the same time...

hmm.... get a gun and shoot thru both windows with 1 bullet.... then claim it was a stray bullet while you were driving down the highway. some1 must have been hunting in the woods!

Wow, it requires destroying the glass? IIRC there was a member here who was simply building a car to be race dedicated (I believe he had two 8's he was simultaneously building actually). One of the cars purchased was a nordic green with the moonroof. I really thought he purchased a new center piece and replaced it, without breaking the glass. For some reason I can picture images he posted in my head but could always be wrong...

If you could do it without the hassel with the windows it just may be worth it

and the search continues.
i got all excited.
if you remove the sunroof, can you remove the 2 crossbeams that support the sunroof? i think yes... right? or do they add to the structural rigidity?
lower center of gravity!

Overlay for $1600? You can buy an adhesive carbon fiber sheet for much less at www.dragonplate.com/ecart/categories.asp?cID=12

I have no intrested in spening the money for the overlay or a real roof replacment but, if the cross members provided all the structure, would'nt it make sence that you could use the overlay for an actual replacement? Just a thought. Obviously the big question would be finding a ship to do the work.
On a side note, if the corss members do provide all the structureal support, then the stock roof is probably all aluminum and not very much heavier then a wet carbon fibe roof. Dry carbon would be a different story. With dry carbon you might bhe able to remove the cross member and really save some weight.

Funny, though. If you removed those crossmembers, you would probably end up collapsing your car inwards under high G's.. Maybe not so drastic...
