The problem with this board is 60% of the posts are from the peanut gallery criticizing things when no one asked their opinion in the first place. There is a new plasti dip foam in a tube intended for fixing tears and gaps in things. I tried using black spray dip to cover my cracked airbag cover with poor results. However I ordered some of the thick stuff to fill the cracks and will spray over that. Anyone who is getting early signs of cracking could probably use this if the get it early enough. The problem mainly lies in getting a consistent texture but I thing buying in bulk and using a quality gun to spray it instead of aerosol would help. And FYI there is a dissolver sold on amazon to remove plastidip from dipyourcar...

Be sure it's really thick so that it hits someone in the face when the airbag goes off

say got a question for u dippers, since the plasti dip has that rubber/plastic texture, does it look anything like the plastic around the foot step?

Reason i am asking is mine is pretty scuffed up from the missus dragging her foot whilst wearing heels all the time and if it is a similar texture wouldnt mind spraying that whole side to cover the scuff marks.

Cheers

Its not very durable. If she keeps dragging her foot across it, it'll probably come apart.

Just a heads up guys. The previous owner of my 1st gen RX-7 rattle can plasti-dipped the whole car. It was so time consuming to remove that I ended up inviting a few friends over to have a "plastidip pealing party". We all wore our fingers to the nubs. I'm still picking it out of nooks and crannies(ie. sunroof, door jam, fenders, spaces between window seals) and over spray is every where. I've been told that if done properly with a spray gun and the appropriate coats it comes off no problem.
Just my 2 cents.

Because other people don't have them then they must be useless. Strong argument..........

and danmnmnmn having done the same thing is also not helpful for any argument. It's quite likely the opposite effect.

Well I'm not dead yet, and as you can see from the picture- they clearly do function

Also, dipped wheels, badges and strakes

I criticized you at first on your thread, but it's starting to grow on me.

You tape off a square around the emblems and spray plasti dip covering the inner edge of the tape and your emblem with 4 light coats and when it dries take the tape off and it will peel easily and cut perfectly around your emblem

No you dont need to remove your emblems to dip them. The dip peels off perfectly if enough coats were used and enough time was given to dry.

thanks guys, I have dipped many things such as bumpers and wheels. I was just wondering how it'll come off the trunk and NOT the emblems when I go to pull it off AFTER it dries. Make sense?
