Dozens of threads here show cars that look VERY good, and a lot of them are pictures with decent cameras. Including a handful of Rx8s.
Voting Open for September Dip of the Month
Considering each of those jobs were less than $500.. i'd say they all look great.. even if the dip only last a few months.
The plastidip will not damage anything even if it melts on them, including the headlights so I dunno where you're getting that idea from. The headlights do not get even remotely hot enough to damage it in the first place. Also, plastidip holds up fine to the elements. I've had a motorcycle that is not garage kept dipped for nearly 8 months and all the plastidip looks brand new still. I've had plastidip melt on my bikes exhaust header and once the dip drys it peels right off.. no damage left behind.
Same for the exhaust shrouds, exhaust tips, and the engine cover. Several people have dipped the brake calipers without it melting off, but it wont work for people who are aggressive drivers.
The only time plastidip will damage a car is if the paint has not cured, then it will haze the clear coat a bit.
For small parts.. rattle cans are fine.. if you do something like a hood, or entire car.. don't do rattle cans unless you know what you're doing and are good with one.
