when i bought the car a few months back the front bumper was painted horribly, paint was cracking and had 2 different color yellows on it.
now i hate panda cars and i wasn't sure how this would turn out but it is growing on me. the hood on it was a Brilliant Black replacement, rest of the car Lightning Yellow. i considered going all Lighting Yellow and have it look somewhat original but opted this route.
there was one spot in the lower center section of the bumper that was repaired during the bumper manufacturing that i burned through while stripping the crap paint off, which stands out and needs to be repaired still(hoped the paint would fill it in, wrong).
the irony of this car is it popped up on craigslist for a month at $4500, closer to xmas i saw it relisted at $3500. i looked at it, dead battery, fish bowl tail light, fogged up headlights, few dings and dents and shotty front bumper, but perfect interior. offered $3200, settled on $3300 and flopped down the benjamins before he changed his mind. additionally i keep finding little mods done to it here and there(tokicos, new brakes, AP underdrive, AEM intake, PS gauges, LED interior, MS replica bumper, HID, etc, etc).
towed it to the shop, charged the battery, deflooded the engine and it ran perfectly... the car was sold through a third party(title was signed by the original owner) because the second owner couldn't get it started either and probably assumed the engine was toast, as i did(didn't plan on doing a compression test in his driveway).
moral is, you can polish a turd. might even find a diamond(okay, i exaggerate). and before you toss a car, a little digging might reveal a rotary shop nearby you..
