Question Mazdaspeed Badging

I have always disliked people Mazdaspeed badging Miata's that were not factory
Mazdaspeed editions...and sorta felt the same about RX-8's.
Since there has never been a factory MS RX-8, but lots of MS parts avialable, at
what point do you think it would be acceptable to badge your car as Mazdaspeed?
Is the body kit enough? or how about all the 'go-fast' stuff but no body kit?

^what he said

I always thought it was ok to badge mazdaspeed as long as you had some parts but I do see why it would be a bit poser if someone went and bought the door switch panel and badged the car a "mazdaspeed" Personally I used some of polak's graphics to paint my brake calipers which now say mazdaspeed. Do I care if someone says "Hey there's no mazdaspeed brake calipers!", no.

i wouldn't do it just because there are no mazdaspeed rx8s in the united states. So no matter how many parts you buy, you still don't have a mazdaspeed rx8.

I have the license plate frame and I'll just leave it at that.

I have the license plate frame, a MS badge under the RX8 badge in the back, and have the Carbon Fiber MS B Pillars. Personal taste, but I think if I have MS parts, the badge is appropiate. Why not show off you are a bit different than the other RX8's on the road? If you have the body kit too, it REALLY makes sense....

I think having a "badge" is different than an MS b-pillar, or an MS strut tower, or the MS CAI. These items are branded "mazdaspeed" parts and comes that way. When you have the MS badge on the car, then inevitably, the whole car is branded MS, which is arguably incorrect regardless of how many MS parts you have. It all comes down to personal preference.

It's definitely a matter of opion / taste. For example, I only have the MS wing on my car so there's reason for me to put Mazdaspeed badges on.

Kwescott however (as many of you know) has a FULL MS kit, MS struts, springs, etc etc. If it's Mazdaspeed, he pretty much has it. I think for a guy like him, it looks quite tasteful to put the Mazdaspeed badge.

if anything, mazda needs to come up with a new name - mazdaspeed doesn't sound cool, and it doesn't look cool when placed next to a mazda badge. You're just repeating the same thing..

^^Agreed with mysql101 about the Mazdaspeed name. It' just doesn't sound cool. If Mazda does keep the name, they can at least come out with a cool logo or something.

I think if you've got the MS body kit, having the MS emblem is definitely okay. Who really cares anyway. If you don't like it, don't put it on your car. If you like the way it looks, slap one on your car.

LIVE LIKE YOU WANT TO LIVE. To hell what others think!

For me, the "mazdaspeed" badge on my rear is more of a demonstration of pride of ownership. It may cause confusion for those outside of the rotory world (as many Skittles and EVOs have pulled up next to me, wanting to race, asking if my car was the turbocharged version), but within this community, it is just a way of demonstrating pride in the name brand.

I feel the Mazdaspeed name brand is fine. It isn't any different from TRD, Mugen...etc.

Would people agree that badging is better/worse/same as putting product stickers on their car?

I'm not one for stickers on the car, but Mazda/MazdaSpeed must be okay with labeling it after you've bought some MS parts. I say that because I got some free stickers from MS with my CAI and my strut tower bars as well. Like I said, I don't have any stickers on the car, but they look kinda cool on my toolbox in the garage.
