Mazdaspeed Front Bumper Grill Material?

hey guys.....i know there are alot of people out there with the Mazdaspeed front bumper installed. i know quite a few people have chosen to use different style/material color mesh to fill in the holes of the kit and protect oil cooler and radiator.

however, im looking specifically for where i can purchase this kind of mesh.

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...threadid=26649

i want the exact same material, pattern, and color. to me it looks the best out of any of the other mesh grills so far. it also looks the cleanest. for some reason i have a feeling that that is the mesh provided with the authentic mazdaspeed kit front japan. does anybody know where i would be able to purchase this style of mesh grill?

I don't see any mesh there. Just see black - void - nada. What mesh are you looking for?

i wasnt aware of that........but that doesn't answer any of the questions i posed initially.

spink9k......look very closely. you might see some black stuff in a honeycomb weave design. if you still can't see it than maybe a trip to the optometrist is in order.....

Did I give you the impression I was directly answering your question? You weren't sure what "authentic MS mesh from japan" was like so I provided that part of the puzzle.

When asking for assistance I'd advise not insulting people trying to help. I'm referring to the optometrist comment.

I DO see an optometrist, but it's not my fault that your ref pic has poor shadow detail. Maybe somebody can help you now...

Here's a picture I had. Not much better.

I have ordered some mesh from http://www.grille-tech.com/ .
It's the black diamond cut type for $45. Should arrive at my house today. It's a nice pattern and powdercoated black metal. I ordered the biggest piece (middle part of the f-150) and plan to cut it up to fit the middle part of the bumper, the 2 oil coolers openings, and if I still have enough the bottom of the bumper.

adrian.....the stuff from grille tech you ordered is probably the best bet as far as mesh material goes. im sure the metal is fairly sturdy and the black powdercoat finish will leave a clean look.

only gripe i have about it is the price. $45 seems a bit steep. anybody wanna share mesh?

The grille tech mesh came in. It's thicker and more durable than the MS mesh that I saw in person. It's very hard to cut, you'll need a dremel or garden sheers (worked for me), no wire cutters or saws worked. Pretty sharp edges!
I spray painted my rebar black but ran into some problems when I was done installing the mesh and tried to fit the bumper back on. I didn't notice the rebar was molded to the inside bumper and I left some mesh hanging out on the sides. So rebar came off and I'll have to dremel the sides of the mesh and reinstall the rebar in a couple of weeks.
Drilled into the bumper and then zip tied the mesh thru the holes. Very sturdy, powder coating looks great, won't be rubbing off. I only had enough for the middle section and both oil cooler openings, the bottom will have to wait. I looks similiar to the MS but alittle smaller openings and thicker lines. Here's some pics. Daytime pics in a couple of days.

nice writeup adrian. the mesh looks very close to the MS stuff thanks for blazing the trail for all.

btw your ride is sick.....when i first saw the k's burnout front lip in option mag months agoi almost drooled all over myself. safe to say it looks even better on a black 8! if you hooked it up with the mint blue rear carbon fiber spoiler (which you inquired about in the 1st year mazda thread) then you're ride would be jdm goodness.

Adrian, looking at this last picture, it looks like you can see the attachment points along the bottom - four of them. Am I right, or is that just bug guts?

Looks great man! :D

Yes, those are the zip ties. I actually cut those off and redid them. They are not visible anymore plus I raised the plastic below that so it doesn't look like it's hanging anymore.
