mazdaspeed sideskirts

You get the sides, some brackets, templates, fasteners, and a few screws, but I don't remember the size of the screws. Something along the lines of #10 sheet metal screws, but there are only a few of them.

I would recommend only using the fasteners that attach to the body of the car, near the rock plate, as well as the bolt in the front and rear wheel well. No need to use the fasteners that go into the side of the car (which require you to drill holes in the body of the car)....as these fasteners will break and the side skirts will pull away slightly from the side of the car anyways. I wish I had been told to just avoid those, as I now have holes in the side of the car.
All of the side fasteners have broken, but the bolts in the wheel well and the fasteners on the bottom of the car have all stayed.

When I installed my MS sides and attached them to the bottom of the car, it seemed like, since the skirts weren't sitting flush, that I kinda had to "force' them into place with the fasteners. So I'm guessing that the bottom parts of the skirts are being pulled upward on the bottom of the car, which may be slowly pulling the sides away from the car (since they are "L" shaped).
Anyway, it looks like I'll need to order more of those plastic fasteners, or find some other better way of attaching the sides. Anyone know a part # for just the MS fasteners?

so the skirts are ready to be put on and I spent umm somewhere around 3 hrs and didnt get one on I have cut the stone guard and drilled holes in the underbody but i dont think they are big enough.... anyone who has installed the skirts before please, please, please lend me some info. I have bought two hardware kits to mount each skirt and I dont want to drill the holes in the side of my car. My question is, How big should the holes be for the clip/screws that mount under the car? I dont want to go too big, and do I have to drill through the second part of the body underneath?
Im about to just have some place install them

The hardware kits your purchased were for the Mazdaspeed skirts, or just generic hardware?
Did you receive the installation instructions? If not, I may be able to fax them to you.......I am a nerd and have kept my installation booklets. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the mounting templates...and many people have sent me pm's about those damn things. Oh well.
As for your question about the hole size and the drilling through two layers underneath. I recall from the instructions that there was a need to drill through two layers when drilling through the sid eof the car, near the front wheel well...but no need to go through two layers in the underbody.
I am currently using the pop-screws, the same ones that are used to hold the inside black pieces in the front fender well....the ones that have a philips head screw head, and they pop in. If you look at one of those, you can see what size the hole should be....maybe even pop out the portion so you can see the hole...then take drill bits and see which one is closest to the hole size.
Hope this helps.
Also, I have faxed all of the installation instructions to a forum member, who then scanned them and posted them on this forum somewhere. Don't recall his name or the thread title...but they are on the board somewhere...maybe in a DIY?

Also, I put white out on the tip of my pinky finger, placed the side skirt up in place, and the stuck my finger through the tabs underneath to "mark" the underside of the car with the white out through the tab hole. This way, I new exactly where to drill and I could do all four holes at once.
