is it me, or is it the strakes on a body kit??

this is official: it seems that rx8club.com has taken over my life b/c i can't seem to study. i dont' want to - so i'm finding excuses to browse on this forum. it sucks.

anyway, as the time for me to add a kit draws closer and closer, one thign gets more and more evident. For a stock 8, or even one with an appearance package, the strakes absolutely make the car... however, once a kit is on, and the car is lowered w/ skirts, and bumpers, it seems like the strakes don't belong... strange really

as i continue to look (stare), the strakes that exist on 8's with body kits absolutely kill the car -- like it's trying to hard to... do something.. i dont' know~

but i feel like an 8 w/ a bodykit and no strakes make it much more appealing...

do any of you agree?

Yeah, I sorta agree with you. I used to love my strakes, but now they are a little out of place when I see them in pics with my new bodykit. Outside of looking at my pics, I've gotten so used to them, I don't even notice they are there anymore.

And yes, this forum can be addicting at times, but take it from someone whos been through college recently, you should definitely put studying as a higher priority. You can lounge around and party after your finals are over, but its time to crack down.

I agree I really liked the strakes when I got my car stock, but since then I have gotten the body kit and I don't like the strakes on with it. But they've been on there a year I imagine if I took them off there'd be marks leftover. oh well

actually, my strakes kinda slide around... when i bump them... the stickies decided to wear off ig uess.. and no marks. slight scratches from dirt gathering, but nothing gs27 or a good wax won't take out...

i mean, just take it off. u have the ms kit and it will look meaner, imo, w/o the strakes on...

I think strakes look great with the OEM body kit.

Strakes are horrible! The worst mod you can do to your 8. The only thing it matches on the car is the headlights. Other than that, it does nothing for the 8...

I have a kit and I just put on strakes this past weekend. I think they look great. They're stainless steel and look really good with the chrome rims. I think it depends on the kit as to whether or not they look good.

I tend to agree, once my skirts went on they somehow looked unbalanced, i've got used to it, but probably would look cleaner without them.

see, the ppl that decide to keep them have some type of accent noticeable on the side of their cars though... ie, chrome door handle, fuel lid, wheel lip, etc. When you have stock or just forged wheels and no chrome or any type of "metallic shine" on the side of the car, it looks out of place b/c it's the only think that blings.

for example, MAZDA's mazdaspeed 8 doesn't have strakes... b/c they know it's out of place (imo). and it just looks a lot meaner and more aggressive (and cleaner) without them on...

but, i have to admit, the strakes are one of my fav fac. mods.
