Milky discoloration on rotary accents
Hi Guys,
I've noticed some odd stains on the rotary accent pieces on both the front and back of the car. I've only had the car one week and I noticed them at the dealer but thought it was just excess polish/wax that I could just buff off. Well, cleaning it with soap and water didn't do anything. In fact, using my fingernail to try and scrape it off doesn't work either.
Anyone seen this before? I figure I'll just have the dealer take care of it. However, if someone knows how to clean it off, it could save me the hassle. I did think they would be more chrome-like and shiny, but they are kind of a dull silver which is a little disappointing.
Sorry, the pics aren't incredibly clear. I wasn't actually trying to take pictures of the rotary accent pieces at the time. The rear one has a similar milky residue, but it's more uniform rather than the "runs" that you see on the front piece.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Yea you hot looking car got someone excited ......
No seriously maybe take them off and run them under the sink, with soap or some cleanser . It s easier to clean with them off than when they are on .
Good luck ......

Okay, I'm assuming "road salt" refers to salt used on roads to melt snow and ice? Don't see how it could be that given my location is warm year round. I'm going to just tell the dealer and have them figure it out I think. Ultimately, if they can't get it out, they can replace them.

hmmm... I've been hesitant to use any strong cleaners for fear or damaging the plastic (can't believe they charge a few hundred bucks for those things). I might try a few other products. I will talk to dealer and see if they have any suggestions.
