Mounting of fog lights
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but: My RX-8 doesn't have fog lights -- yet. In looking for a mounting location, I noticed these two round holes (approx 1-1/4") in the upper corners of the front grille. All the photos I've seen show the fog lights mounted on the bumper right below the headlights. On the other hand, these two holes further inboard appear to be for mounting something. Any idea what?

The fog lights go on the bumper itself not the car. To install them you remove the bumper with the bumper set aside you remove the plastic used my mazda to fill in the void with the new fog lights. You remove 3 screws from the bumper to remove the plastic piece attached to bumper coverand replace with the foglights. Its pretty easy to upgrade to fogs the wires are already in place (see DIY section). The part that sucks is removing the bumper cover. As for the holes I think they might be for a license plate bracket, I'm not sure my 06 has no holes.

Nope, way too far apart for a license plate bracket. The openings in the grille appear to have been molded into the original bumper assembly, not drilled. Behind the openings in the grill are the two 1-1/4" (roughly) holes through which you could run wires into the engine compartment. (I'd post a photo but someone's borrowing my digital camera at the moment.)
