MS Front Bumper paint matching?

MS Front Bumper paint matching?
Hey,
I just got a MS kit for my car (stripes to come next week):
Anyone else notice how the MS front isn't matched to the rest of the car? I know they come pre-painted, but should I get them to respray it to match? Does it look as bad as I think it does?

First, please leave the stripes off, you don't drive a mustang. But anyway, yours does seem abnormally off. I have noticed that it is normal that the bumper doesn't exactly match because of the material. For some reason the same paint on the plastic bumper looks different on the metal hood and sides. If you look carefully, its like that with the stock bumper. But again, yours is more off than I have ever seen before. Is it real MS, or a knock off?

Car looks good without stripes dude.
As for the paint matching, I would assume you have the authentic MS kit because you say it comes pre-painted. I agree what Moostafa says about the material difference playing a factor. Also, it could be that the paint on the car is just older than the MS kit because of the outside conditions.

Strange though as they grey usually looks darker on the bumpers, but yours looks lighter. With what you're paying them, if you aren't happy then ask for a re-spray. My INGs came un-painted and the independant body-shop I got to paint it got the match spot on. Aparnetly the wrong paint colour matches better, (there are two Titanium paint codes, 29Y and 31Y I think - the 31Y I think works best on the plastics) infact I think the best match is the Ford equivalent grey - thats what my bodyshop uses.
Compare my front match to the rear (stock rear looks darker)

Yeah, it is a authentic MS kit.
I'm torn. It's not as bad as orbist's rear bumper's matching (in my opinion), but it's definitely off. Orbist, does the colour mismatch bother you that much?
I also think it won't look as bad when the stripes get put back on. It'll break the colour change line a bit. Yes, I know some of you don't like the stripes, but I really like them. The car seems naked without, to me.

Doesn't really bother me as its been like that sine I got it and the front stock bumper was the same. Most titaniums are the same. As I'm still looking for a rear replacement I like then some day it will all match but tends to look worse in photos than in the flesh.

You can usually never get paint to match with the kit and the car. The reason for this is that the kit is made from a diferent material compared to the metal pieces on the car. When paint is applied, it will look slighty off.

go back and ask for a re-paint/colour re-match.
why would you settle for a diff colour match when you paid for genuine MS kit?
"usually" the lighter colours will not match between metal and plastic bits (when applied by the same colour match)...... it can be done by altering the colour to have it matched.

I've decided to keep the paint as it is, and I've now had the stripes re-done. It looks awesome. Why the RX-8 doesn't look like that as standard I'll never know. I'll post pics up as soon as it's sunny and I can clean the car!
