but for future reference , anyone that wants a mazdaspeed replica, get a urethane one ... fiber glass sux

I hate to say, but what's wrong with you guys . I paid $1000 to fix, install, and paint in 2 tones the whole body kit. Yes it need some work, but you are not paying $3000 for the body kit. So I don't understand what you complaining about.

That's well in good for you.. and all others who have "hookups" from friends or friend of a friend who has/owns a bodyshop. For me, i simply do not have that resource like donald and landon and yourself where you can get work done for $1000 or a little to nothing. i've gone to practically every body shop within a 15 mile radius from my place and found them passing on doing the job and the ones who were willing to do it wanted $2500+ for it (no kidding). Hence, to me... i would be at a "loss" and not benefit from getting this kit.. my total cost would run me over $3000 FOR A FIBERGLASS KIT. So, if you were in my shoes... what would you choose? a $3000 fiberglass kit --- or the original kit for just about the same price? It's a no brainer..

I would've been fine w/ the fiberglass IF i was gonna save some $$$... but in this case, it was not a good investment for me. Please don't take offense in what i'm saying..I'm just sharing my experience w/ this.. perhaps if i lived somewhere where they do fiberglass work constantly on a daily basis, maybe i would've been able to get that $1000 price on the work as well.

This isn't a knock against you or AAS.. i think the kit is being offered at a very reasonable price.. heck, i wouldn't have ordered it if i didn't think so. If everything would've worked out, i'd be a happy camper. I work for a living just like everyone here and have to work hard to finance this expensive hobby. So, with all that being said, i hope i didn't come across as being disrespectful to you, AAS or anyone else that may have ties to this fiberglass kit.

BTW.. for those w/ successful installs on this kit... CONGRATS! they look great!

BOTTOM LINE: Fiberglass isn't the best choice for body kits. One should know what they're getting into when purchasing a fiberglass kit. And don't shoot the messenger (AAS, or any other distributor), it's up to you whether or not to order.

flipstream

No offence, taken. I didn't realize that body shops in your area wanted that much. If someone told me to pay $2500 to fix a fiberglass kit, I would totally freak out

I shopped around, and the most expensive quote I got was $1500, and I though that was too much. I can imaging my reaction if that would be $1000 more.

Yea. in your case, you better off with original.

Good luck

P.S. Why do everybody call me a distributer. I'M NOT.

I was referring to AAS (AutoAccessoryStore)... where we purchased the fiberglass kit from.

Nice post, Mike. =)

I completely agree. If nothing else, AAS, it would help clarify some of the discrepencies of you NOT being a distributor or having anything to benefit from the sale of these kits.

I know you claim you're NOT affiliated, but you may want to consider changing your screen name if you're not happy with people confusing you with them.

That is a beautiful vehicle. I kinda like the spoiler, too. Goes pretty well with the MS kit......DIFFERENT than everyone else and their MS spoilers, I like that.

hmmmm, to be honest, that wing doesn't suite the 8 all that well IMO.... it looks like something u'd find on a subaru/lancer.

Well, I was thinking to buy MS Spoiler, but like Landon said, I would be like everybody else. Even though this spoiler looks a little heavy for RX8 lines, I like how the car stands out from all others. And it much better than those Aluminum Wings that have no lines at all, and in my opinion don't look good on any car.

I gracefully disagree. Gives it a bit of a "tougher" look, rather than a "sipping my tea with my pinkie pointed outward" look. Like Arby's said, different is good. Mixing refined body lines with an agressive rigid spoiler isn't a bad thing, it's just not what everyone else is doing. Everyone else aren't always right.
