Is My Carbon Fiber Hood Goin To Crack In The Winter ???
IS MY CARBON FIBER HOOD GOIN TO CRACK IN THE WINTER ??? - I have a VIS carbon fiber hood i bought used from a member. I live in NYC and it gets pretty cold in the winter. I current have the hood on, but i want to know if i should take it off and get a oem hood. Because in was looking to buy a junker for the winter, but i have'nt had any luck... PLEASE HELP...

I really don't think that it should crack due to thermal contraction or expansion, unless there are very bad manufacturing defects. It may, however, become more brittle, and more prone to damage in extreme cold. But, I never actually tested that when I was working with CF parts back in college.

i personally would do exactly what chris m said.
untop of that i might not let the ice build up on it either.. but if your driving the car often the hood should heat up enough to melt ice/snow on your hood.
