Need new hood...Aftermarket or stock??
Last week my 8 suffered some serious hail damage. The hood needs to be replaced so I was wandering what the difference is pricewise between the stock hood (that insurance will cover) and aftermarket hoods. Pics and prices of other hoods would be appreciated (or a link to a relevant thread). Thanks

I was in a front end collision and had to replace my hood also. I took the value for a new hood from insurance (I think about $500 or so) and put it towards an aftermarket CF hood. The one that I ended up getting was the most expensive of my choices ($900 shipped) but some of the others I was looking at were around $700 shipped. Keep in mind that if you get CF and doint paint it you can put the paint costs towards the cost of the hood as well.
Was it worth it?
Hell yes, every penny. Not only does it look outstanding on the car, but the vents provide much lower engine bay temps, which in a place like Miami is a concern for engine longevity.
Do some research on prices and compair that with the claim ammount your insurance co. is giving you for the hood. Then decide if its worth the extra coin to get an aftermarket hood or not, its that simple.

Personally I like the Veilside vented hood.
