New LED Brake Light !! Pictures included
#102
12/10 i went to Spyderauto for the test fit, everything turns out great and the installation is really simple, took no longer than 15 mins. Here is some picture after install and the video will come up soon. I chosen the Smoked one since more people interested, but as i see, the smoke tinted is just a light tinted. Thanks for viewing.
I will take some more Night picture later at night, thanks

Come on, man, you've got to be able to upload some bigger pics than that! Those are practically thumbnails. I want to see some detail! I want to see if the chrome housing is actually a perfect fit because it looks like it ends abruptly and isn't really pill shaped like the opening in the trunk, but a rectangle that is just a little short. Even those same pics at a higher resolution (that can't be the resolution the camera took). Please upload them.

yea, sorry for the first picture, he gave me the wrong one which is for the RSX, the tint is the same but the shape is different, the one i test fitted is the correct one. but i tried my best to show it to you guys how is the tint on the light. Hope you guys understand i am just helping them to test fit and i will try to let them know about that.
P.S. Night time pics is up!

About the connection, the only thing may need to apply is a connector, what we did is just put the red and black wire straight in to the plug and everything light up. since it is a 12V LED bulbs, there will be no issues about burning out or blowing fuse.
the pictures which shows a little bit Gap is because it has to apply the stock rubber around the brake light to the new one. It makes the gap goes away and prevent from leaking water or moisture.
Let me know on the above please as a no would make me think twice.
Take care,
Brian

I would be interested in the clear version but I have to agree the tint levels on the two different pictures look nothing alike. The installed 'tinted' lens doesn't look tinted at all - it looks the same as the other rear lights on the car which don't appear to have tint.
Also, having to use an old gasket on a new part doesn't seem to be a very clean way to install anything. Can they not provide a new gasket for a very small price increase?
Finally, I don't know enough about LED's to know whether or not it needs a load resistor - but this obviously would be something to think about if people who know what they're talking about say it does....can anyone give a small electrical engineering lesson on why this is the case and why they seem to think it's not?
- Thanks for all your work on this saki - it's cool to see so much interest and I know it's probably taking you time to keep up with all the questions and whatnot - appreciate it and chances are you'll help a lot of 8's end up looking even better

OK. However if you are running ALL LEDS then I still stand by my original quote. I think it is needed. If using standard bulbs then no you would not. So why not throw the part on to save people grief and having to research this issue from scratch.
So are you saying we have to remove the rubber gasket from our original third brake light? I would rather pay a few dollars more to have it installed on the part already. My reason is I like to keep all my stock parts as I am sure others do also.

About the rubber gasket, as i mention we have to use the stock gasket, this is what i recommend. The reason why i said recommend is because the light itself come with the rubber gasket, it is just not thick enough, so still created a little bit gap, i told them to make the gasket thicker just like the stock one but for now i recommend to use your stock one since it is something that do not have to cut or modify. Just simply exchanging. I hope they can make the changes too, but for now, this is what their product looks like. I do admit that it is not a perfect one, but at least is something new and price is reasonable. Thats why i did everything just to benefit the rx8club and share the new product with me. Let me know if you have more questions.

If you are not getting an ABS warning light, then the LEDs are somehow creating enough of a load that the car detects them and doesn't think that it's a burned out bulb. This is what the load resistor does.
I still want to see some higher quality images. These are from ebay for the 3. Can you get some large clear images of the product like this so we can see what kind of quality they are? (those sell for around $30 BTW)

Just to clarify the load resistor issue...
...you only need the resistor if you replace both tail/brake lights and the third brake light with LEDs. If you have the LED 3rd brake light but keep the filament bulbs in the other two, then you won't have a problem.
Right now I use LED bulbs in the tail/brake lights and still have the filament bulb in my third brake light. The reason for not swapping the 3rd brake light bulb is that as soon as I do that, the ABS light illuminates... the one filament bulb prevents that. I did not yet bother to find a good place to mount a load resistor, but I'll do that - since I will need it, either if I put the LED bulb in or if I buy this light.
