Started seeing VLED posts about their new Triton multi-application LED bulbs, and they're available for pre-order. Anyone getting these?

Looks interesting. Even a decent fit. I like how it's easy to attach with that L-shape. Do what you like, it's fun to mod

I'm back! I will soon be converting my whole setup and trading my Platinum series bulbs for the new Triton bulbs. I'll be doing all three bulbs out back a (tail, signal, reverse) as well as the signals up front. The front bulbs are going to get a little custom treatment... think DRL/signals using the switchback bulbs. I'll be ordering the bulbs in the next couple of days and doing the install around Christmas. Look out for tons of new pics and an updated first post for this thread with updated links.

So I got the new Triton bulbs today and they are amazing. Super high quality and very bright. They use 3 Cree LEDs instead of a large array of lower powered surface mount LEDs. They look really cool in housing compared to the Platinums. Check it out:

Only got the rears installed tonight. The amber turns are way brighter than the Platinum ambers and a little brighter than the Platinum red. I'll try to get the fronts in this weekend. I haven't decided yet how I'm going to hook up the switchbacks... as true DRLs that come on whenever the cars or just parking lights.

I didn't get any pictures (other than the above). I'll try to get a bunch of real pics this weekend if the weather permits.

Cool are you running a resistor (or whatever it is) or anything to avoid issues with the TCS, etc?

I assume you are talking about the brake lights. I've seen some people complain of getting TCS errors with cheaper LED brake lights, but I've never had an issue with V-LEDS bulbs. I am running load resistors on the turn signals so I don't get hyper flashing. You can get these for the Tritons so you don't have to tap your wires:

V3 TRITON CLS 2-4 BULB LED TURN SIGNAL BLINKER HYPER FLASH FIX | 1 PAIR

I'm still using the wire tap style that I was using before.

Do you wire in each bulb? And do the V3's fit any type of housing with those adjustment screws? I can't read the directions picture, it's too small Thanks.

Edit: I see the power adapters, I'm still curious if the tritons fit in the tail light housing just by adjusting the screws on the bulbs.

So each bulb comes with a little pigtail that plugs into the stock bulb socket. Yes, the bulbs fit very tightly with the screws.

Quick update: I wasn't able to find 7443 sockets/pigtails locally so I had to order them online. Therefore the install of the front signals/DRLs won't be happening until later this week, or possibly next weekend. So look for an updated photoshoot then.

Also, I just wanted to reiterate just how freaking bright these Triton V3s are. Yes, they are a little spendy, but they look so clean when off and so bright when on I think they are definitely worth it if you are a lighting nut like me.

One more thing: V-LEDS is now VLEDS and they have a new site at vleds.com. The domain change has broken all my links on the first page. I will go through and update them later tonight.

Surprised they did not do a http redirect from old to the new domain or a DNS CNAME...

Sorry it's taken a bit of time to get an update. The custom switchback setup is not working so well. I think the little control box that runs the switchback can tell that it's not a stock, dual function light and is doing some weird stuff. I'm going to talk to VLEDS tech guy next week to see if there's any way I can trick it, but it looks like I'll probably return the switchbacks and put single colored bulbs there instead.

Also looking to take the cap off, not for condensation though. Its the stupid yellowing around the edges that really gets to me.

Thanks for posting a real reply. I ended up putting hids inside instead...only thing I had to mod was that little cover inside the housing. the lights were a bit too long and hit it before I could twist them in.

Anyone using the Tritons for their tail/brake lights and have pics of them turned on? One of my 20-led platinum bulbs stopped working properly (just past the 1 year warranty period of course) and I was thinking of trying these out.

Thanks!

I would wait on the Tritons for the tail/brake lights, there is a problem that makes the low circuit (regular tail) almost as bright as the brake lights when the car is running. Looks fine when the car is off though. That's why I haven't posted updated pics yet. Version 2 will be out in a week or two.

The Tritons work great for the signals though, no problems there. As soon as I get the updated tails I'll be doing a full shoot.

@itsBarryL, there are plenty of threads about taking the headlights apart on the forum. Hint, you have to bake them.

Great, thanks for the reply. So the site says that the red bulbs will be available by the end of March. Is this the new version that you're talking about?

Correct. You really wouldn't be able buy the old version now anyway.

It appears that the new version of the Tritons will be delayed, but they're making several improvements. This is the email from VLEDS:

Many of you have pre-ordered the V3 System and have been waiting for some time now. I personally want to apologize for the long delay. I know waiting for items purchased on the internet (especially cool stuff for our cars) can be agonizing. When an item is delayed for weeks or maybe months, it can strike a nerve in even the most patient car enthusiast; We just want our stuff! I understand, however there is a good reason for the delay.

VLEDS is committed to making the best products in the industry. Because of that commitment, we've made several improvements to the newest version of the V3 Triton system.

The biggest improvement is a new smaller control module (LED driver) with built in resistance. No hyper-flash, no bulb out warning, no more CLS module. The load can easily be removed if it is not needed. This module has been CNC'd out of a solid block of aluminum, then anodized in a stunning black finish, lastly topped off with a laser engraved V3 Triton logo. All internal components are sealed and 100% waterproof. We've also added automotive style waterproof connectors, and longer - heavier gauge wires. The new bulb is a little shorter so it will fit even more applications. Lastly we increased output a little (as if they weren't bright enough!)

We are very excited about the new V3 bulbs. We hope to start shipping orders in just a few weeks. Hang in there, the wait is almost over!

Thank you for being a patient VLEDS customer, I appreciate your business.

Sincerely,

Jake York
President/CEO
VLEDS
