Sorry i couldnt help bro, but you kinda gotta try and look at if your gonna have enough room.
Their all around the same size but some are 194's but may be a tad bigger if they have lights on the side. If your trying to install a 194 with lights on the side as well as on the front it might not fit in the maplights but on the side of the doors it would...

Maybe these?

Those will work for the trunk too? And again, if this could be added to the original post so we can keep it all clean and easy to find for others, that would be awesome.
That bulb would fit just fine. I doubt you'd be able to fit any of the ones that have LEDs on the side through there due to the hole being pretty tight if I recall correctly. I wouldn't spend much money on your map light LEDs at all. I would personally suggest these:

http://v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/Corne...81133-1-2.html

They are pretty much the cheapest on the site and only have a single point of failure while still retaining a very bright LED. Keep is simple. This bulb will be 3x as bright as your oem 194 bulb and still look nice up in there. Hope this helps.

lol, just saw that they are out of stock on this one. I'd check the site for another single LED solution if you can't get your hands on one of these. (It says its for the license plate but they're all the same).

Yes, that bulb will work perfectly for both locations. I currently have a pair of those same bulbs that I'm using for my license plate and trunk locations. I did test fit it in my map light as I'm planning on ordering another set for there (I currently have older LEDs there and they aren't very bright). I tried a few different LEDs that I have lying around and that was the only one that fit as the map location is very tight. I'd bet that the one kainis2k posted would not fit because it's too long, but I didn't test one of those so I can't tell you for sure.

As for the sticky idea, I should have a full LED conversion inside and out within the next couple of months. I'm planning on doing a detailed post covering every bulb at that time. That will probably be a better one to sticky.

There are a couple ways to do it, the way I prefer (so you don't have to worry about resizing images or reducing quality) is to use photobucket. Go to http:www.photobucket.com and setup a free account. In the "Upload images and video" box, click "choose files". Browse to the file on your hard drive and click OK. Once it uploads, you'll see a thumbnail of the images. If you mouse over the thumbnail you'll get 4 options, the last is IMG Code. Click that and it will automatically copy, then paste that in your post here. It will look like this (but without the spaces):

But will show up like this:

Anyone looking for the H11 fog light bulbs, the manufacturer sent the wrong bulbs again (H8's) so you'll notice they are no longer available on the site. They should have it straightened out soon.

I had one place send me the wrong fogs twice. I was thinking about trying yellow fogs so I ordered Nokya yellows and they sent me 80w .. both times. As much as I wanted to melt my fog housing I ended up just ordering Hoen's again.

The only reason I needed to replace my stock Hoen's is that the dealership lost mine when they replaced one of my fogs due to water leaking in. FYI Hoen's look just like the xenon headlights.

Since I'm tired of fighting with the stock fog light housing (the reflector in particular) I've decided that I'm going to sell the LEDs (the ones that Aipex also uses in his fogs) and get some HID projectors instead. I'll put them in the for sale section eventually, but just note that the LEDs were only tested once to see if they turn on and they do. i haven't gone back to read through this thread, but from what I remember they were no longer available.

Anyway just a heads up!

I'm waiting to put in an order too. They said they are getting a bunch of product in the end of this week, hopefully that includes the 7W 7443 red bulbs.

you said that the newer LED's don't need resistors. I bought mine a week ago. how do I know that the gave me the newer LED and not something that has been sitting on a self for a few years.

It's not like they made a change to the LEDs a few months ago and they have LEDs that look the same but have different internals. The problems that I had were with LED bulb models that they no longer even sell. I would say any of the SMT, mini SMT or high power (.5 watt) SMT bulbs will be good. So, which bulbs did you get?

Hey guys,

I installed the VLED H11 bulbs in my fogs, and I'm very happy with them. Yes, getting the cap out is a PITA, but overall it wasn't too bad. Below I have a comparison between my old HOEN halogen bulbs and the VLED LED bulb. I was only able to take this picture in bright daylight, but you can still see a difference.

I also have a shot of the lights at night, even though Aipex8 has posted plenty of his. My setup is slightly different and includes Apexcone 6000K HID bulbs, VLED SMT high power LEDs for the parking lights and of course the H11 LEDs for the fogs. They are all very close in color temperature, and the LED fogs are a much better match for the 6000K HID bulbs than any halogen bulb that I've tried. Time will show if the VLED H11's will hold up, but all-in-all I am impressed with these bulbs. They project less light than the halogens, but like most people here, I'm not relying on them for primary light. They look great as running lights with the parking lights (if you've done the fog light mod).

I asked about the high power 7443s and they said that they would be getting a bunch of product in Friday of last week. They didn't really specify exactly what, but I would assume they would be trying to restock anything that was out of stock. I haven't seen any updates on their site yet, but it may take a couple days to update the inventory.

Fog Lights out of stock, any suggestions for replacements?

Hi All,

New to the forum, i got my rx8 only last weekend, I am looking to get some replacement bulbs for it, and i found this thread, but when i went to the site to order the Fog's are out of stock (the parking and corners are in stock, and i really like the look from Aipex's pictures):

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481
part number: H11_68_W

I am hoping someone can suggest a replacement.

Aipex, I'm wondering if you can help me out in suggesting something.

I noticed that from the pictures your parking and HID's look more purple than the fogs do. Are you using the 6000k blubs that you recommend in your post, or is there something from v-led's that would be a bit better match (the same purplish colour) ?

Thanks,

Wheels

I don't know of any other LED bulb that's as bright as these. You can wait for them to restock, I think they may be getting more this week. If you just can't wait you can get the H8's which have the same socket, you just have to modify the key slightly to get it to work.

As far as color, I doubt you are ever going to get a 100% match. Up close the .5 watt LEDs that are on the parking and side marker bulbs have a hair more purple than the standard M-SMT LEDs that the fogs use. The Philips Ultinon bulbs that I'm using for my headlights are a bit more purple than either. In person, and standing a few car-lengths away they are close enough to pass as matching though. I've been trying to match everything up since I've had the car and this is definitely the closest I've gotten. Although 6000K HID bulbs range from blue to purple and I think a bluer one may match just a bit better. I'm thinking of getting the blue 6000K D2S bulbs from V-LEDs:

Not planning to change my HID's just yet, i like the colour / look of them as well.

When you say modifying the key, are you talking about the bending the pins to get it to fit? and how slight are we talking?

Thanks

Wheels.

No, the pins in the socket are identical. You can plug an H8 bulb into the harness without modification. It's the metal tabs around the base of the bulb that are slightly different, so it won't match up to the housing.

There are three of these tabs around the base of each bulb, if you are holding the bulbs with the socket facing down, the top most tab on the H11 is the long tab, on the H8 it would be the left side tab. If you trim about 1/4" off of that left tab on the H8 bulb it will fit into either housing.

Since there is no wattage difference between LED bulbs, and the sockets are identical (it has H8/H11 stamped right on to it), they should really just make a universal key that will fit either type housing.

Here's a pic of a standard H8 bulb (all I could find on short notice) with an arrow pointing to the matal tab that needs to be trimmed. When you pull out the H11 bulb you can hold it up and compare it to the H8 to see just how much to trim.

If you plan to do this, just know that it will void the warranty on the bulb... SO DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Hey Thanks Aipex,

I'll get the H8's, my cousin is an electrician and i'm sure he'd be able to help me out with the trim, ill take some pics of my car once i get it back tomorrow from modding with the hand controls. Like Pico and a few others on the thread, i'm in a wheelchair and am coming from a Saturn SC2, so this will be a vast improvement.

Thanks again for your help with this.

I'm not sure if you've read through the whole thread or not, but also keep in mind that you will have to remove the metal reflector cap from inside the foglight housing, since the bulb is much bigger than a halogen bulb. This is a fairly easy procedure but does require you to remove the foglight housing from the bumper. While you have the housing out you can trim and fit the bulb much easier anyway.
