May be thats why I dont see too many 8's in Vegas. They drive them only on the weekends.

takahashi: Thanks, but get the plan together; you have to catch up my friend...
No, Mazdaspeed does have 19" rims. Just not staggered sizes (I believe).

Would you NOT recommend the MS kit and suspension if the car is a daily driver because of the clearance?

if it's for shows, the hiros are fantastic, but what about performance? aren't the magnesium ms wheels lighter?

...and not a daily driver doesn't sound good! i love the ms kit but the 8 IS my daily driver ...i'm having second thoughts

Well the 19" Mazdaspeed rims are not available (They are ugly...) for sale yet and as far as performance goes the hiros work well; I would not feel an improvement and probably lose some cornering load (They are only 8" and max tire would be 235/245)... Did a test with my g-timer on a skid pad close to my house and recorded 1.02g with the current setup; not bad...

As far as being a daily driver goes, it really is at the limit of practicality now, and I would rather enjoy the car now without the wear and tear that daily use puts on her... The ride is great and she runs fantastic but forget about getting anywhere near a curb or parking stop... The skirts and front spoiler really only have about 4 1/4 inches of clearance unloaded so with driver and a passenger you’re under 4"...

It's under "WHEEL" on the Japan Mazdaspeed site. The 19x8.0JJ rims are 77,000 JPY each. It gives the recommended tire size of 225/40R19 (18"/stock being 225/45R18).

My 8 with the MS kit is my daily driver -- in Nebraska You just have to learn to park a little back from the parking stop -- not a big deal. I have adjustable JIC coilovers so I will probably raise the suspension when I put on my winter tires and rims for extra ground clearance.

Or back in to all parking spaces. That's why it's not a problem in Japan... the easiest way in and out of parking spaces is by backing in. It also has the convenience of making sure you clear the parking block...

Here in the States there are places you are not allowed to park backed-in...

I went to Mazdaspeeds website and could not find the 19" wheels...

Try again. I just saw them.

"Shashubetsu pa-tsu" --> "RX-8 A Spec" --> "Wheel" --> "Aluminum wheel 'MS-01S' 17x7.5JJ, 18x8.0JJ, 19x8.0JJ"

You can't miss it.

I am aware that there are places in the US where you can't back in. I *am* from the US...

Unless the number of places in Florida has increased since I was there in March, there are few places that say you can't back-in. I've basically been up and down the East Coast more times than I want to think about, and yes there are places that say you can't back-in, but they are the exception, not the rule...

I was going to say for second there...

Yeah you'll miss it if you aren't looking carefully. I didn't find out this way. I found out from RX-7 Magazine and Hyper REV where they talk about the B-Spec RX-8.

BTW... did I mention that your car (being in black) looks better with the Hiros than MS rims anyway?

Looks real sharp!

Actually most parking garages do not allow it and all of down town Coral Gables were I work... Backing up may only be an option about 25% of the time around here, but it's a good suggestion...

And thanks for the kudos...

Really? That sucks.

Actually the only places that I could think of with the problem were parking garages. Otherwise you would almost never see anything about it. It's an option for everyone except the banned garage people... but if it's work, you'd get used to the distance, etc. for parking in that place anyway. Or so I'd imagine. :p

At first in Japan I tried parking straight in, but it turns out that it is a pain to get the car in actually, and REAL hard to get out. There isn't much room between lanes at all. Basically EVERYONE in Japan backs their car in.

My parents are saying the same thing. :p

It seems as if life is going to keep me in Japan for another 3-5 years... I had been hoping to leave this year. Oh well.

Drop me a line if and when you make it over. We'll have to go catch a beer or two.

I dont like the RX-8 rims at all. I was at the dealer to day for a Oil change an right in front of me I see the Mazda MPV with 17" rims just like ours. I said no way I'm going to have minivan-rims on ma 8! an I like the Volk Racing GT-O's in off set so I can get that deep-dish look in the back.

Incredible pics cortc. When I saw your car at the last meet I thought it looked sweet but now....WOW!
Awesome job.

I have noticed since installing my ms supsension that my car will still clear most parking stops by about 1/4 inch but with the ms bodykit I am sure it will hit them. Be careful!

We should get together soon. Shoot me a PM.
