If it's functional :p

If I see a car that is has huge potential to look better then I will soon expect it to look that way vs stock. Of course many many others prefer their car to look stock. Many are not into modding their cars as far as appearance goes. Many are not into modding at all....even adding clear corners.

Overall, if someone wants to add a 10ft wing and non funtional hood and side scoops then let them. Who are you to comment on that? To each his own. I am also sick of people using the term rice. ALOT consider my stock car rice but hey, thats another argument. Different strokes for different folks.

Riccio and the rest

Yeah, that's my daughter skylar. She's 4, and loves to ride in the 8. She loved doing 70 on my jet ski, and I cant' take her fast enough in my boat. That girl is going to be a fine catch for a man in say, 35 years?

And to finish, I wasn't trying to imply that mods are bad, or others' cars are ugly. I have seen some cars that are so modded, though, that it really detracts from what the car is. Kind of like Michael Jackson's multiple plastic surgeries. Sometimes the more you mess with something, the more you screw it up and soon there's no way back!

Thanks for all the comments and opinions. Many of them were very well written, concise and informative. Some were not so much, but hey....

Thanks, that's a better explanation.

As far as your statement "if someone wants to add a 10ft wing and non funtional hood and side scoops then let them. Who are you to comment on that?", I think that if someone posts pictures here, that is an invitation to comment on it!

We are all entitled to our opinions. If we weren't this would be a pretty boring place to visit!

Different strokes for different folks, IMHO.

As for me, I'm about done with the exterior appearance mods... although I may blend the MS side skirts, front lip spoiler, and rear flares into the rest of the body work for a cleaner appearance, and I may get some different 17" or 18" wheels at some point... but no hurry on any of that.

From here on out, I'm all about engine, baby! :D

Let me be the first to admit to having an 'overdone appearance' on my car. While I can certainly respect the opinion that 'less is more' and that my car appears garish to many people, realize also that my car is supposed to attract attention as both a dedicated daily driver and as a show car w/sponsors. I made a conscious decision to do this to my car and had to weigh my aesthetic decisions carefully... costless parts playing a big factor in these decisions. Whether it gathers good or bad attention is certainly relative, but anything that draws publicity is a plus... it's certainly a viable goal to make magazine features and possibly another cover.

What's really interesting is that, if you knew me, you'd realize that I'm no attention-***** and that I'm actually socially withdrawn; I take solace in the company of my wife and two daughters and am not gregarious/opinionated like my car would suggest. When it comes to modifying cars, though... that's a bug that bit me hard... and I'm not done yet... watch out for the car at SEMA.

I love the stock look of the car, but I also have a wild imagintion and I like to stand out, I am always looking for a way to make the stance more aggressive and certain parts stand out while others blind in. But the stock 8 still excites me.

I got the car to be different. Now in order to stay that way I got a body kit that is limited in production. There is only one car in the US that has the kit. I jut can't stand it when I am driving down the highway on the way home from work and I see 3 Acura TL's (seems to be the wanna be yuppy vehicle of choice out here right now) 2 the same color and one that is a hideous off the wall factory color. I love pulling up to a stop light and watching people's jaws drop and then watch the car take off.

It's a great feeling being a part of a large community of RX-8 owners but still remaining an individual.
